The *Official* Eve Online Thread

just re-installed EVE after a couple of years and dusting the cobwebs off my little 4mill SP toon before I even think about a corp. Many new things to get head round!

1 thing I will ask your collective advice on though is this: Thinking of treating myself to a new monitor to run in tandem with my 19" viewsonic. Will my agp 6800GT run EVE in resolutions up to 1680x1050?.. or am I clearly deluding myself :) would hate to shell out for new screen then plug it in to find out it doesnt do what I want it to.

The screen res can goto what ever, the detail may be slightly stretched, but It can still look quite pretty imo. Theres a graphics update coming soon, which looks juicy so the higher res will be a win win situation :D

That mean it can do custom resolutions then? What about FoV's? I'm dying to play at 3360*1050 in that case, at double whatever the default FoV is.

What exactly is the point to this game ?
Impossible to answer. There is no point, per se; the game is what you make it.

EVE very much encourages autonomy in players, and at the end of the day, if you want there to be a goal already set out for you, then it isn't the game for you :)

It's probably not a good idea to open fire on anything until you understand the consequences and know what you're doing ;)

Try and join a player corporation as soon as you can; it makes the whole experience a lot more enjoyable, and makes it easier to get to grips with EVE :)

I was getting the feeling it was a free for all sorta thing. Its just so complex to really know where to start. Soon as I open fire im blown outta the sky

yeah, shooting random people who arn't red crosses will cause CONCORDOKEN!
