Hehe nice. Makesure the mods dont have paddy because your circumventing the censorship dude :P

Nowt wrong with the hill these days, few **** there, was thinking of buying a house to rent there :)

p.s i smell an eve drink up ;)

change the censorship, hehehe,

Harold hill has got a lot better latley, in repect of the gangs on the street, think its coz there got old enough in looks to get into clubs and stuff in romford.

any way added you to MSN, and i believe a EVE drink up is definatley in order, but i am usually in the goose every friday from 18:30 to 21:00 drinking.

Im pretty new to eve, Ive just finished the 14 day trial, got a few skills under my belt but I dont know what to aim for? Im amarr:amarr, but now people are telling me lasers arent good and I should train for a mega.

Can someone give me a clue as to where I should aim for for pvping and general combat? I thought it would be a good idea to train for a raven but now Ive been told that I shouldnt and this keeps happening.

Anyone got any advice for a young noob? :)

Each race has their high's and low's. You could go for a Mega but to PvP with that is going to take a few months of skills, and one hell of an income. I'd stick with the Armarr as you have skills in them already. You can PvP with a Punisher, and in Red Moon Rising it gets a boost to resists per Frig Level, so is going to be a nice little tanker.

I'd aim for the Interceptor's personally, they can be good for PvP, or just scrambling a target in a small gank, the Af's are supposed to be getting a rework slightly to make them a little bit more uber/ balanced then with the ceptors'.

Thanks for the advice mate, my original aim was going to be for an interceptor but after I got an MWD and started zipping around enemies, I realised I couldnt hit anything in my punisher :p

Ill probably do that then, just have to train up motion prediction and tracking speed.

This game so so qaulity :)..
just wish I new what i was doing...

started training gunnery up2 level 4.. but still cant buy even a basic frigate LOL..
roll on tomoz evening when I can buy myself a merlin

Whoever told you that lasers are not good is a moron, amarr ships in my opinion are the toughest and most survivable ships in the game, often the most versatile in terms of roles.

For PvPing and General combat I would go towards a Punisher, they are a fearsome frigate and can take a beating unlike many others.

Your medium term goal should be a Maller, these are almost as good and about 75% cheaper compared to their Battlecruiser brothers, The Prophecy which is also a fantastic ship. Both these ships can tank silly amounts of damage for their cost and rip through ships of their class.

Going upto Battleship Class, I have flown both Apocalypse and Amageddon, both are amazing ships, especially the Armageddon, it can't tank much but is very powerful.

Skill wise your immidate concern is Engineering skills and the skills related to your ship, these allow better capacitor management allowing you to maintain the power you need to keep firing those lasers and repairing your armour.

I haven't read through the thread at all because 59 pages is what i consider a little too long, but can anyone give me a brief outline of the basic skills i will need to fly an Armageddon effectively and maybe even a decent setup for the skills?

P.S. Anyone here in TRIBE alliance?

This is plundered from somewhere else but its a good one, and lots of the modules can be interchanged between named and tech II.

As to skills you want all of the basic engineering skills to level 4 or 5. Mechanic skills to level 5. Electronic skills to level 4 or 5. And as much as possible for laser weapon related skills to level 4 or 5.

Also check out things like weapons upgrades and navigation.

The problem with a battleship is the sheer amount of boring skills that have to go into it to make it good, whereas frigates are more interesting to fight in. :)

As for the BoB situation, i really wouldnt know tbh, havent been online much this week. But from what ive heard is that BoB are trying to take advantage of the current deployment of the fleets in the south, not much to shout about imo. BoB are obviously the biggest baddest force in the game, so im not belittling them by any means.

Im tired of this alliance chest banging tbh, each side will have a propaganda driven view of events, so hows about we just let the outcome do the talking?

Besides im commenting on this as an outsider, im not in any alliance, so im not really fussed tbh, just voicing an opinion based on what i have been told, and i must say it has been very interesting to hear another side of the arguement. :D

well you obviously are belittling us, after being "told" (ie believing the hype) that we're here because G and IRON wernt about.

we're not up here to help everyone were here because we wanted to kill stuff

i told you as much last night yesterday when you asked ffs.

while were up here get out and fight, i've only seen Wilik, Ditcham and JiH4d take up the fight, i wouldnt even comment on sn8kez death (worst setup ever) you cant miss us on the map, we're the only ones moving.

-5- vs fe last night, 5 had a dread not in siege mode at a gate in h-pa, fe had them battleship outnumbered + 2 dreads in system but STILL didnt engage. nice non fight if you can have it.

Ribbo mate, id never make the mistake of belittling BoB, to do such a thing would be extremely foolish and i wouldnt dream of doing it.

And i wasnt told that was the reason why you guys showed up was because the fleets are in the south. That was my own conclusion and its obviously wrong.

I would agree with the carpness of sn8kez setup, i need to catch up with him to have a word.

Look mate i got nothing for respect for you and BoB you know this, the post you were refferring to was posted yesterday daytime, long before i spoke to you, now the record is straight, i stand corrected.

I can promise you we will be becomming increasingly active in pvp in the region. We have been instructed to just hole up and wait out the storm, but tbh id rather not do that.

oohhhh no, no, no, no, no, Tachs on a gedon is a no, no, big time.
All thiose low slot going to waste on Ractor Control Unit, could be better of used with More Heat Sinks.

We often have a geddon with tachyons. It works really well at long range. The guy has 12 mil in gunnery (pure lasers). In a BE vs FA battle, he killed 26 frigs/ceptors/cruiser with the setup. Do not underestimate a geddon, EVER.

The above setup is a sniper/gate gank setup. and relies on range to keep it out harms way as it has no tanking capabilities.

To survive while hunting in 0.0 with this setup you will need to setup sniping Bookmarks, stay at that location and keep the rats out at max range. If a frigate warp scrambler get you pinned and you can't kill it you won't survive long against a NPC BS if it gets in range. While hunting I'd rather go for an armour tank setup such as:

Hi Lsots: Mega Beams
Low Slots: Cap recharger II's
Low slots: 2x armour hardeners (againt the DMG the rats do) 2x Large Armour reppers, heatsink II, 1600 plate(if you can squeeze it in) and a cap power relay. Or if you are having trouble making everything fit use an to help RCU/CPU depending on you grid/CPU needs

Goes without saying to get the best named/tech suff you can afford

At least some people try and be a little different in their setups, sadly most people say its a "bad" setup if it aint in the "flavour of the month" category. A geddon with tachs is a rare thing and may catch people off guard, even if it does take a couple of RCU's to fit, doesnt mean to say its bad.

My raven needs a few power increasing mods to fit a full rack of siege launchers on my setup, does it make that a bad setup cause its not all ballistics in lows? No!

Its people like will that keep the game changing, finding different setups, different tactics. If most pvp'ers had their way every person would be in a 1400 II setup tempest with identical setups the instant they brought the ship.

Anyway, with RMR, more than 3 Damage mods is pointless.

True that. don't underestimate anything in EVE. each ship can be deadly againts it's peers/smaller ships if fitted well

In PVP, no it's not, every little bit helps. He who has the edge wins, even if that edge is just 0.001%.

While what you say is true, fitting a 4th dmg mod for such a small return isn't the best idea(However I know you're exagerrating on the 0.001%). That low slot could be fitted with a more useful mod eg: extra hardner or cap relay to keep the armour hardeners/shield boosters working

In fleet battles (pretty much the only thing battleships are used for these days) hardeners are a complete waste of space.

When you are made primary, you die. Simple as that. (unless the luck of the lag is upon you and you have roughly half a second to warp out.)
