Great event.

Fantastic stuff from Jones again - only problem I can see for the UFC is where do you find "proper" title contenders for Jones, GSP and Silva?? Surely can't keep going round the block and putting up the same guys all the time. Jones is just a bit of a freak - I think the only person to beat him in the future will be himself for getting lazy or bored.

For those that think Jones is arrogant and cocky - take a look at Mir. I thought it was particularly pathetic to be boasting about breaking Nog's arm and being the only man to KO him and Sub him whilst the guy is lying 2 ft away with medics attending to him. The guy is an idiot in my book. Great scrap and great sub but still.........

Always happy to see Tito getting beat - he's done his time, been a great fighter and a great servant to the UFC but 6 losses in last 8 fights (including a draw) - anyone else would be long gone by now. Some crazy pounding to the ribs/body from Nog - I was wincing each time they landed.

Great Ko for the Korean Zombie (stupid swing from Hominick to leave himself that wide open) and I personally thought that Ebersole was lucky to get the decision on point I thought it was 29-28 the other way.

Very good event all round and roll on UFC 140.

At the press conference, White also announced the introduction of the UFC's 125-pound flyweight division, beginning with the March 3 event.

Bones will have to move up to HW at some point, he has said this himself he is still growing and as he fills out he won't make 205.

He still has reach on all the heavyweights, but I don't see him being as successful at that weight, as his size advantage is diminished.

I think the only way someone at 205 will beat him is if they are a better wrestler than he is, if they can take him down and control him, his huge standup advantage due to his length is negated.

Is there anyone at 205 who can currently do this? I don't know. Rashad seems to think he used to hold him down during sparring, and Phil Davis has a good shout at being a better at least on paper wrestler than Jones.

Well hendo thinks he can get close enough to bones to do some damage but dont know really not after machida tried his in and out strikes...

It could work for hendo but the reach and size advantage is too much I reckon.

Rashad however I think hes the closest to catching him with a bomb and combos... once jones is in trouble you just gotta go for it and rashad would I feel.

I don't think Dan can stand up to what Jones dishes out while he's waiting to land the R bomb. Rashad is much quicker and Machida at least showed that if you can control the distance better than Jones does then you can at least cause him problems.

Nice to see the smaller guys getting a look in. Really wish they'd bring in a class around 225-230, but then they'd probably lose half the current heavyweight roster.

None of the current LHW rosta will beat Jones without a shed load of luck. If Machida stuck to what he does best, like in round one, he'd have had a better chance.
I genuinely beleive to beat him you need a very strong wrestler with very high level striking (not Brandon Vera) whos fast on their feet and capable of taking it to him, not sure this person is in the ufc.

Only thing I don't like about Jones is how he just holds his arms out straight to stop opponents advancing. Pretty darn effect tho :(

yeah that was plain madness the dragon got the 1st round, so it just goes to show if your fighting the champ u gotta fight like 2x harder then him.... just to win a darn it round!

I do sorta agree with it cos if your the challenger and u been given that chance u really gotta bring it to the champ either by knockout or serious damage....

Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal this weekend

Main Card
Champ Gilbert Melendez vs. Jorge Masvidal (for lightweight title)
Champ Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Hiroko Yamanaka (for women's featherweight title)
Gegard Mousasi vs. Ovince St. Preux
Billy Evangelista vs. K.J. Noons

to me not the most exciting card ive seen strikeforce put on, but im picking
melendez, cyborg, mousasi and KJ.

hopefully after this melendez will move into the ufc, a lot more match ups for him there :)

yup am interested in the Champ Gilbert Melendez vs. Jorge Masvidal fight, jorge looks quite sharp and good but Melendez is such a beast, guy looks like he throws power shots as jabs and he can take a great deal of damage also.

Seems the strikeforce event is not being talked or discussed, even the betting websites dont bother to list it even which is strange.

Anyone super pumped for Brock vs Overeem? I seriously hope for a decent Overeem performance so he can back up his striking.
This fight could potentially be so awesome! Both complete freaks in their size and for Brock he has the speed not many HW's do.

The fight will resemble something like this

I'm really looking forward to it, but I've prepared myself for disappointment tbh. It just seems a bit too massive that it's always going to be meh compared to Shogun V Hendo! I can just see Brock getting punched in the face, turtling then TKO. End.

i dont see it going more than 2 rounds tbh.
all comes down to if brock can get him down and hold him down.

if he can it will be like frank mir at ufc100
if he cant then overeem will win by ko.
i like both of them so i really dont mind which way it goes :)

diaz vs cerrone, im picking for fight of the night doh. that will be a good fight.

Ubereem vs Brock will be great, I know what I'm hoping will happen but who knows.
I doubt it'll be fight of the night for me, Cowboy vs Diaz has higher chance of crazy fireworks.
