Gotta go with Aldo in the main event, he's been training with Gray Maynard who is a bigger stronger wrestler than Mendes so it should pay dividends.

Johnson will out wrestle Belfort to a decision.

Palhares will snap Messenzios knee.

Erick Silva will TKO Prater.

Barboza vs Etim is hard call but I think Barboza via UD.

I'd be scared fighting Palhares (not that I wouldn't be sacred of fighting anyone :p) because there is always a high chance you are going to come out of the fight with a serious injury.

Jose Aldo all the way. I hope we see him with some more venom like we did in the WEC days.

It really is a great card on paper.

José Aldo (c) vs. Chad Mendes
Vitor Belfort vs. Anthony Johnson
Edson Barboza vs. Terry Etim
Thiago Tavares vs. Sam Stout
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Ednaldo Oliveira
Ricardo Funch vs. Mike Pyle

May put an accumulator on for these fights! :)

Good luck if you do. I wouldn't be able to put an accumulator on as the Belfort v Johnson and Barboza v Etim fights are too close to call IMO.

I remember Murray Walker used to have a saying he was fond of, “Anything can happen in Formula One… and it usually does.”. That applies double for MMA.

That said there is some good analysis here, but this is a difficult card to bet on no real "locks" perhaps except for Paul Harris.

The problem with his last fight was how quick it was though, you can't really learn anything from it. We know he's got a great kickboxing base, but is really as good as Barboza? Will he be able to get Barboza to the floor where he should have a slight advantage?

I want Etim to win don't get me wrong, but it's a very tough fight to call.

I know we've heard it all before but i really hope we do get more events over here

RIO DE JANEIRO – To all the MMA fans in the U.K., get ready: August is a big month for you.

That's when the UFC's deal with ESPN expires, and that's when the UFC could score a new TV contract that could significantly impact the number of events the regions hosts.

Right now, the U.K. is promised one event in 2012. But depending on the TV negotiations, a second could happen before year's end.

"We know fans there are eager," Marshall Zelaznik, the UFC's managing director of international development, today told MMAjunkie.com while in Rio De Janeiro for Saturday's UFC 142 event. "We're working on it."

The U.K. hosted three events in both 2007 and 2008, and it became the first real international-expansion target for Zuffa. But the number dwindled to just two shows in 2009, and a single event in both 2010 and 2011.

While the U.K. shows fewer and farther between, countries such as Canada and Australia hosted more. But Zelaznik said the U.K. could get a reprieve in late summer. One show is already promised for the third or fourth quarter (details TBA), but he said there could be a second.

"The thing that's happening in the U.K. is that our ESPN rights expire in August, so we're in deep negotiations with television networks, and depending on where those go, there might be a real interest in the new partner to say, 'Bring another event,'" said Zelaznik, who recently relocated from the U.K. to the UFC's Las Vegas headquarters. "We're committed to making that mark bigger and bigger (in the U.K.)."

And though some fans have taken the limited offerings as a sign the UFC is ditching the U.K.'s expansion plans, Zelaznik said that's not the case.

"The U.K. can easily take three or four events per year," he said. "We have no doubt it."

so johnson moves upto middle weight should be a lot easier cut than 170,
saw a tweet stating
"Rashad on Rumble: "At ww, 60% of his camp was about making weight... the 185-pound Rumble is a killer" - predicts a 2012 title shot for AJ"
then more tweets saying he was way over, he comes in at 197,

my question is did he know he couldn't make it, and didn't go all out to try and make it ?
and now has to weigh in at 205 some time tomorrow.

He's fought at 170 before, imo he's lucky that:

1) Vitor agreed to fight him at 205
2) It's only a 20% purse cut

It's disgustingly unprofessional!!
He is lucky Vitor agreed, but unfortunately for Vitor, because of it being a 'home game' and him being a huge public figure over there, he was almost obliged to take it anyway.
I really hope Vitor smashes him up.

Ha, it's so unprofessional I'm almost angry!!

He's 204.2lbs at the fight day weigh in but he's got 12 hours to gain weight back.

Really do hope Vitor smashes his face in now. So disrespectful.

Johnson got as light as 187.5 pounds on the morning of weigh-ins before doctors told him he had to take in fluids. Johnson's reps said he fell ill on the morning of weigh-ins, though White maintains he simply missed weight.

MMA fans rejoice!

Oh, and a vlog

does anyone have any experience betting on williamhill? I was thinking of betting on the main and co-main event on each outcome so 4 bets and then to bet on a double win (any 2 bets you won) but im not sure if its allowed
