I did think it was strange how they dragged JDS into the cage and then didn't even interview him, he just stood then awkwardly.

JDS seems a top guy, came across great on TUF. Should be a very good fight, maybe will even last a little while, sounds like its some months away though.

which channel is strikeforce event on anyhow?

Some nice names on the card I can see some upsets though these new up and commers from the challengers they got no choice but to make a name asap...

yeah womens MMA may go down due to the cyborg issue... not good.

my biggest question about strikeforce is how long there fighters will want to stay,
king mo and rockhold from this weeks event, how many wins untill all they want is to be in the UFC.

and then what? there TV deal only got extended for one year right ?

It's a bit like the Premiership and the Championship. They'll throw all the money at the UFC, putting it on Fox, ESPN, etc. Whereas, Strikeforce will always be the junior of the two and the place the blood new / upcoming fighters.

:)

believe the deals been extended for 2012 and beyond so were looking 2 years tops.

I think its a weird situation right now cos nearly all the strikeforce fighters are saying the same thing and its been said for a very long time but gilbert melendez was saying it a lot lately that he is the no1 pound for pound fighter and he keeps saying frankie and this and that... and how hes going to the ufc soon, and then the new deal reaches and he becomes the strikeforce 'Star'. And king mo was saying same thing last week... and now hes got 4 fight deal with strikeforce.

Now rockhold was saying it too, there is no way any ufc fighter will come over to strikeforce its all about the money and ufc pays silly amounts, would be lovely for a real MMA fighter to do that though and proove me wrong :)

Zuffa owns them both, should be able to do champ vs champ bouts to satisfy peoples interests.

They seem more intent on just bringing them over to the UFC and setting them up as title contenders after an introductory fight (Shields, Overeem, Diaz et al); it's a shame because I think a "superfight" between the UFC and Strikeforce champions would generate more interest however Zuffa is probably afraid of damaging the UFC's brand perception as the premier MMA organisation in the event that their champ loses.

as much as some strikeforce guys want to face UFC guys.

UFC vs strikeforce show should never happen, even doh zuffa owns them both. it does nothing for the UFC to put on those shows. better to just move the guys to the UFC.

and TBH there's only really the lightweight division that people want to see champ vs champ. and i dont think strikeforce even has any other champs other than rockhold?

one of the things i love about the UFC / MMA is that almost all the best guys are in 1 place. clear divisions and champions.

also when it comes to sponsorships i would guess the fighters will get better deals if they are fighting in the UFC.

gilbert melendez.... who claims is the pound for pound no1 fighter in the one of the lightweight divisions may have an issue with that ;)

Thing is many of these strikeforce claims coming from King mo and gilbert and many others have made there voice heard recently and its like many top guys have been purposely left out it all started with the heavyweight division of Strikeforce collapsing.

You have Roy Nelson vs Werdum, now Bigfoot vs Cain is being setup... now were hearing there trying to get Josh Barnett vs Cormier to set a clear winner this summer and perhaps to setup a last fight with Fedor.

Really do wish they dissolved strikeforce to stop the complaints and whose truly the best since we wont find out for another few years..

I'm hoping that we'll see Sergei make the jump to the UFC soon. There are so many bouts to make if they bring him over...

Sergei vs Hunto, Mittrione, Nelson, Mir, Schaub, Barry, Struve... Good times.
