First to Bendo, next 4 to Frankie. Maaaaybeee give the 3rd to Bendo. But, even so. Frankie still had it.

The wording in general is poor, how for example does one differentiate between "overwhelmingly dominates" and "totally dominates"?

My point was that the rules allow for judges to score a round 10-10 if they do not feel that there was a clear winner but they rarely do so.

Incidentally I feel that there should be more 10-8 rounds scored, the final round of Shogun-Hendo comes to mind as a good example of a clear 10-8 round which was not scored thus.

exactly this, jones will just run away from the h bomb which will come slow and far away...

total dominance from outside the reach, hendos not gonna be able to put a guy in his prime and almost a weight class above him on the ground....

do agree as well only issue with this is if a guys almost finished in a round take frankie/edgar fight, would that mean he did get a 10-8 round for total dominance?

I can see the point of the 10-9 scoring system but then its giving the other guy a chance to get back and win like frankie did....

works both ways perhaps lol
 
I've said this for years now - the judges in MMA appear to like awarding the round one way or the other - even if it is only a razor-thin difference - which over the course of a five round fight, can come out with some very strange decisions (as we've seen in the past!)

I'd much prefer it if judges were told to score every round level unless one fighter has a decisively better round in their eyes!

I guess the down side is this will invariably lead to more draws, which the crowds don't seem to like!

I'd also like to see what sort of difference it would make if the judges scores were published as the fight goes on - surely this would make the last couple of rounds far more interesting as you would know you need to finish to win! (instead of 2 fighters going through the motions just because their cornermen have incorrectly told them they are well ahead!)

Just a thought!
 
Forrest vs Sonnen at 205 UFC 155.

Pointless fight, Sonnen should be getting someone in the mix, not Forrest who is not in the mix at all and will probably retire after this fight.

Pointless maybe, but it does get him a foot in the door at LHW. I can only imagine how bulked up he will be as well. He was doing some pretty major cutting to get to 185. I can see him walking around at 220+ if he cuts at 205.

Great card. Think Gustafsson will do a number on Shogun. He has just turned into a bit of a punching bag recently. Diaz Henderson will be interesting but I can see Diaz sticking to the jab to death game plan.
 
The sonnen v forrest fight isn't as bad as it seems, Chael lost to forrest years ago, granted now the fight won't even be close but should still be good plus a win will pretty much make him the number one contender since jones has stomped everybody in that division assuming he gets past hendo or machida.

agree really odd, I think they just wanna see sonnen destroy forrest and retire him and make one last statement to say hes ready to die against the spider again part 3 ;)

awesome card, yeah penn and rory at least redone but im surprised so far away... its too far away lol

and diaz vs bendo thats good but again bit far off for my liking.

Shogun vs gus will be awesome :)
 
Chael and Jon Jones have been having a twitter war as well. Chael is trying to talk himself in to a title shot yet again and it could work. I think 2 decent wins and a lot of trash talk and Chael could end up fighting Jones.
 
He makes it look really easy, one comment and he has jones biting. Once he beats forrest and assuming jones gets past hendo and machida, chael will be next in line.

Chael will not get a title fight from beating Forrest. I think they will give him the loser of the Shogun Gus fight possibly after Forrest before giving him a title push.
