Dana White would be tearing his hair out if he had any! It's one thing for fighters lower down the card to be pulling out but MMA has been dogged this year by injuries to major fighters like GSP, Cruz, Aldo, Henderson, Koch, Belfort, etc. On top of that White has also had to contend with non-injury related problems with fighters like Nick Diaz and Alistair Overeem, and with fighters retiring, such as Brock Lesnar.

I just read a crazy statistic that the UFC has had to cancel 78 fights this year due to injury, which is only two less than the total number of fights produced by the UFC in 2005. In one way, it shows how far the sport and organisation have come, but it also shows how much injuries are hampering the UFC's ability to expand to the extent Dana wants.

Is it a case of bad luck, or simply the day and age of the sport? It's quite possible that back in the day, fighters weren't anywhere near as well off so they'd fight at most opportunities regardless of their fitness level .... nowadays, the top guys seem to drop out all the time, maybe because they know they don't need to fight to make the bread.

I'm not saying anyone is faking an injury, just more so that they are maybe less willing to fight with injuries.

It's not a bad thing from a fighters point of view, but it's gash for the fans!

I always said Stephan deserved a top 10 ranked fighter but that's quite a big leap from his last 3 opponents. Maybe Anderson can showcase some super impressive knockout move.

Anderson in moving up to fight custom made opponent for him shocker....

I want to see him fight someone at 205 that isn't just going to come forward and get knocked out (Ala Irvin and Griffin), someone with technical striking.

Machida, Shogun or Evans (at 185/205) would have been a much better fight, but then I guess they don't want to risk their poster boy getting knocked out on his home soil.

Lamb to the slaughter. Saying that, fair play to Silva for stepping up at short notice at all.

Another pointless Silva fight at 205, it should be exciting I mean Bonnar hasn't ever been finished except for cuts.

But it's pointless.

If Silva fights at 205 it should be against Bones.

Or as above it should be against someone who has a legit chance of beating him, I'd love to see him fight Rashad at 205 or even 185 if Rashad drops.

Depending on how training goes Bonnar may get the upset. What I mean is that Silva may not take the fight seriously and not train hard enough, Bonnar will see it as a chance to elevate his status and train as much as he can (in four weeks which isn't enough)

If Bonnar can get Silva on his back he stands a decent enough chance as he's a big strong LHW with a BJJ black belt to boot.

Bonnar will stand and bang, it's what he does. He fights for the fans and never puts on a bad show, I doubt he will grapple Silva.

I know it was early in his career but Bones couldn't finish him and he has been destroying people.

It should be entertaining if nothing else :)

Those moaning at Silva fighting Bonnar and it not being a challenge, Silva didn't have to fight at all he stepped up to take the fight probably not training as hard as he would be after not long finishing Chael and there is no way he is going to jump in at 205 right now with Jones is he, testing the water no doubt.

What rubs people up the wrong way is the UFC seem to feed him sub par strikers who will walk at him swinging.

Each of his 205 opponents have been hand picked for him to beat, this is no different.

If he wants to fight at 205 then challenge him, otherwise there is no point in doing it. Yes he could lose, it's MMA no fight is a given, but they give him opponents who he is very likely to handle easily.

I know MMA math doesn't quite work, but Bonnar got out struck by Forrest... we all saw what happened to Forrest against Silva.

Yeah I can see your point, but frankly is this even classed as a proper match up for him anyway? It's at home in Brazil he offered to step up and fight and like I said he isn't going to go against one of the best in the division without more training under his belt for the LHW fight first.

Whilst it is a miss match, he'll have offered to fight on the same stipulation he would have fought at the 151 card, to fight someone that wasn't training for an upcoming fight.

Henderson is fighting Machida once he is fit.

I can't see Hendo beating him, he is too quick an elusive and will see the h bomb coming from a mile off.

Dan may never get his title shot if Machida takes him out.
