Belfort is going to get absolutely railed.

I'm inclined to agree.....but this is MMA so anything can happen! :D

I have to say I was disappointed when I heard that Hendo was out but I can see why Jones decided against taking on Chael at such short notice - you prepare for an opponent quite specifically from what I understand so it would have been a risk!

It wasn't Jones's decision to the whole card was cancelled - that was Dana's call!

On the other hand, he could have done a lot for his legacy in accepting Chael's challenge and its definitely a fight I'd like to see!

He is the champ of the next division up, he has had a training camp preparing for a wrestler with big power.

Chael hasn't bulked up to 205 yet, he hasn't had a training camp and he still wanted to fight.

Jones had a huge advantage over Chael even if he hadn't specifically trained for him, it's a ***** move and I don't think any of the other champs would have done it.

He has royally done himself over if he loses to Belfort, he has in fact made this even more risky for himself, maybe not the opponent but the consequences are definitely higher risk.

The UFC made it clear to Jones if he didn't accept the card would be scrapped, he knew what would happen. This is why there are a bunch of angry undercard fighters and lots of fighters in general are annoyed with him.

Speaking of Sonnen, looks like he is up to his old tricks :p

Chael Sonnen said:
I am no longer permitted to speak ill of the former champion Jon Jones as we have come to an agreement. I will stop tearing him down verbally and in exchange he has relinquished his belt to me. I would like to read a prepared statement from the former Champion.

Mr Sonnen,

In every mans life a choice must eventually be made. Run or fight. I said I wouldn't duck any man as champion. But you are no ordinary man. You've spoken nothing but truth in your attempt to gain a title fight with me. My last act of cowardness is to hand over what you would have beaten out of me 8 days from today. The UFC LHW Title. Now I must refocus my life. Good luck Champ.

Signed,

Jon Bones Jones

P.S. I just ordered your best selling book, A Voice of Reason from amazon, I've been told by Greg Jackson that it will help me get through this tough time. Thanks

MMA is going down the ****ter already, it was so obvious though that the second a speed fed child spotlights the sport that it would decline, this is exactly what happened with boxing.

- Fighters taking every chance to bow out a fight to the smallest injury? Check.
- 'the best' fighters ducking anyone who might beat them? Check.
- Fighters who draw in big crowds getting away with ridiculous tactics in the cage and disgraceful behavior outside of it? Check.
- Lower ranked fighters getting cut despite putting it all on the line and losing impressively? Check.
- Every champion in the sport doing everything they can to lengthen their title rain, including ducking valid contenders? Check.

- MMA go do da herp derp? Check.

JbJ - worst thing to ever happen to MMA except Greg Jackson. I bet if you walked up to him on the street and punched him, he'd run away to Greg Jackson and refuse to fight you on such short notice.

JDS is trying to duck Cain to fight Overeem, despite the fact Overeem can not compete for a considerable length of time... so why can't JDS fight Cain in the mean time? Oh yeah, he'd most likely lose.
JbJ tried to duck Machida and now has ducked Chael, lets hope Vitor takes the belt, doubtful though.
Anderson Silva ducked Chael like he was the plague, knew he was an actual threat who he couldn't bully with his name.
GSP - can't really say much about him negatively, but he certainly doesn't fight much.
Bendo - cool guy, lets hope Greg Jackson doesn't get his hands on him.

What a very strange post indeed?! I'm not sure where to start....

all said and done. Yup, Jones should have fought. However, there was a show to go on beyond the top bill.

Dana let himself down by calling it off. Jones is beyond the sport, and forgets where he is coming from..?

Pff - the show should have happened.

Dana called it off, and in doing so showed no respect for his fighters, and the sport he loves.

$$ RIP

I'm going way out on a limb here but don't see the big issue here.

Jones's opponent got injured, Jones was offered a completely different fighter at 8 days notice and said no. Where's the problem with that?

Can you imagine the same thing in boxing? Pacman is offered a fight with a different fighter at 8 days notice -no way he would agree.

I think JBJ has made the correct choice. At the end of the day, the contracted fight was with henderson, fight gets cancelled thru no fault of Jones's and then Dana throws a hissyfit and cancels the whole of the card to make Jones look bad.

All the other fighters - yeah, I can see their point but it's Dana who cancelled the card - not Jones - take it up with Dana - oh that's right - they won't cause he's the boss.

I don't see GSP taking a fight on 8 days notice with a different opponent and putting his title on the line (ignoring current injury etc).

All this Jones hating is way over the top. People are always to quick to knock you down when your at the top of the pile, Jones has made a choice - Dana didn't like it so decided to pull the whole card - Dana is the one that's needing sorted out here.

Wanderlei once took a fight with the heavy weight Mark Hunt on 3 days notice. That is the kind of fighter the sport wants and it's one of the many reason that Wanderlei is a legend of the sport anywhere anytime any weight Wanderlei will fight.

If you're a champ you should at least have the confidence to fight someone who is getting what, a week to train. When you are in peak fighting shape and apparently the number 3 p4p fighter in the world.

mmamania had a good thing on this.

Dana prided himself on UFC not being like boxing with massive top heavy cards and not much under it, what has happened? Headline fight has been stopped and the entire card has been cancelled, bang out of order really. It goes to show outside of that main title fight he didn't believe he had enough to make it worth while.

The UFC does not have enough depth to put on all these shows time and time again. Haven't they had the same amount of shows if not more by last month then they had for the entire year just a few years back? It's on so often now its just become to crowded, to many fights/events, not enough depth to make them all worth while.

I also think JJ turning down the fight is just stupid as so many people have already commented on they aren't really much different and Chael is less of a threat than Henderson so really he turned down an easier fight. Chael does not have that massive over hand right JJ needs to worry about, he could beat him quickly get it over with and move on with little damage.

UFC needs to cut back on the events, it needs more depth and Dana White needs to sort himself out, can't stand the way he reacts to things. Pathetic in some cases like a kid throwing his toys out the pram. He is turning into the very thing he complains about.

My thoughts exactly...

I was gonna just comment on the "JDS would lose to Cain" comment and simply ask if he realised that they had actually already fought and that Cain got battered?
