**The Official Everything MMA Related Thread**

Wanderlei has released a video explaining this whole mess up; I've linked it below but if you want the cliffnotes it's the old "no hablo inglés" excuse.

edit: in unrelated news...

With all due respect, we all know that Wanderlei was juicing in PRIDE - as were the majority of PRIDE stars since there was no athletic commission / testing.

Do I think he'd be stupid enough to juice for this fight? I actually don't.

I'm a bit gutted that the fight isn't going to happen - I'm not half as excited for this one and it also means Chael (who I like) is going to be running his mouth about a fighter with a far greater legacy than he will ever have, which is annoying.

Spoiler tagging this incase nobody has seen Fight Night yet.

I <3 Moose.

Fantastic performance against a strong wrestler.

He has definitely improved since he "lost" that decision to King Mo, first the sweep reversal of Machida and now submitting a stud like Munoz.

Awesome.

main card from brazil about to start, finishes at 6am
might nip round the 24hr garage for some beer + Maccy D's drivethrough then settle in for a late night

Watched this one this morning as I was knackered last night.

Few more thoughts.

Paulo Thiago is probably done - doesn't look anything like the fighter that knocked out Koscheck - shame as I really liked the guy, but he is giving away free wins now to guys he really should beat.

Demian Maia - complete domination on the ground, but once again unable to do anything with it. I'm concerned that the lack of excitement we've seen from him recently could see him getting the boot if he has a bad result.

Maldonaldo - his actual strategy for this fight was to let Stipe punch himself out in the first 3 rounds and then come on strong in the championship rounds. The last time I say Maldonaldo fight I thought Glover was going to kill him... he has the heart of a lion and a great chin, but this dude is heading straight for brain damage unless he changes his game drastically. I don't want to be the guy asking for fighters to be cut - but I have genuine concerns for his health, even before last night.

The Barnatt vs Strickland judging decision was an absolute farce, Strickland did nothing but run away and left hand jab the entire fight. One judge even gave it 30-27, whoever that was should never be allowed to judge MMA ever again.

Barnatt was pushing forward, total octagon control (supposed scoring criteria.... yeah right), landed the harder shots, landed shots throughout. Strickland got one takedown, did nothing with it and threw a continuous left hand jab whilst backing away. Quite how he won that is beyond me.

Wow. Really :/ No Wanderlei vs Chael, after all that build up. What a joke. Can't see Sonnen beating Belfort. Don't know why he keeps getting all these high ranked opponents and title shots out of nowhere. He's done practically nothing to deserve it.

Although I kind of agree Chael has only lost to Anderson Silva, Jon Jones and Rashad Evans in the last 5 years, he is also ranked higher than Vitor in the light heavyweight division. I think it will be interesting to see how good Vitor is now that he has had to come off of TRT.

Anyone watch last night? What an absolute disgrace. The UFC really need to distance themselves from that decision quickly and insist the NMAC investigate the judges.

Probably the worst decision I've ever seen and put a downer on the whole card for me. It's left an even sourer taste than the fish-hooking and eye poking that preceded it.

Terrible decision, how the 'winner' (don't want to do any blatant spoilers) thinks they won was beyond me.

Props to Kenny for making his statement after the fight.

Just sent a short email to the New Mexico State Athletic Commission, if I receive a reply I'll share it with you guys.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Having been a fan of combat sports for over 20 years, I am used to seeing the odd controversial decision. Never however have I felt the need to write a letter to the sanctioning body to voice my disbelief. To put it succinctly, last night's decision in the Pearson-Sanchez contest made a mockery of the sport and those who follow it. I urge you to take steps to ensure that such a debacle is never repeated in the future.

Sincerly,
(my name)
