**The Official Everything MMA Related Thread**

Well it was half in jest. Boxing is known to be dirty as **** and a few top MMA fighters have been caught out (Ubereem :() pretty much all sports have it at the elite level don't they? Even tennis was in the news recently. Cycling, running...you name it.

Since they brought in Jeff Nowitski to run the drug testing they have been tighter than tight on PED's. Highly highly doubt people will be using PED's for much longer. I recall Bisping got tested about three times in camp for the Anderson fight and Bisping has (as far as I know) always been clean. Imagine what serial dopers are tested like?

Jeff Nowitski by the way, is the man who caught Lance Armstrong.

Wow!

I thought one surprise was enough, but two, and both to submission! You couldn't make it up!

I reckon McGregor regrets the trash talking! He should have toned it down a bit!

In the run up to the fight the way Diaz and him were going at it, it was impossible to ever end up on the score cards. I thought McGregor would win after a battle, I was surprised he was so laid back in the fight, didn't bother to capitalize which is important when fighting a guy like Diaz as your first fight at that weight; get him out early!

Tate was just not expected! Rousey will easily beat her again, and I doubt she (Rousey) will win against Holms when they meet again.

I used to be a big MMA fan but not any more, much prefer boxing; has more class and skill to it. However MMA lately has been so hot it's hard to ignore.

Both sports require massive amounts of skill, I like watching most combat sports myself.

But for me MMA is the pinnacle, it's just so random, match ups make fights. Fighter A may beat fighter B, but lose to fighter C who fighter B can then beat. It's just an amazing sport.

I am biased as I am a retired amateur fighter.

Nothing but respect for any athletes competing in any combat sport.

This is why I prefer boxing, I mean why do they even bother to fight they should all just try to strangle each other from the outset.Submissions should be removed as long as they stay in mma will never surpass boxing.Only in mma can you get beaten up lose badly and still win just because you get a choke hold in.

I don't follow your logic here.

The choke would literally kill the guy if they didn't let go. How that doesn't earn the win I'll never know.

To me it looked like Connor got rocked and never recovered.

He didn't respect Diaz's hands and he paid for it.

This, you don't want to get rocked by a Diaz as they taste the blood in the water and have the cardio to just keep hitting you until you fall. In this case he shot as he couldn't take anymore, as soon as he did that I knew it was over, someone with still questionable ground game wanting to take Gracie black belt down while rocked, not going to end well.

Conor's pretty much done now, not so much as a fighter but as a money making machine,
his stock has plumeted imo, RDA should be feeling gutted right now as his payday is gonna be smaller than it would have been should he fight Conor

red panties night is no more... :p

I don't think that's true at all, I think Conor will still be as big. Especially if he has a rematch with Aldo, they'll be a lot of media attention over that and a lot of trash talking, which is what gets Conor so much media attention

If he loses again then yeah he'll be done, but I think he's got one more chance before he loses his place in the spotlight

we'l have to wait and see, but imo his future wage cheques are going to be a fair bit smaller than what they were, the hype train has slowed down and i cant see it ever getting back to the speed it was at last week

Seems/ed too big a star for all to be over now tbh.

Although the match itself looked like amateur vs pro.

27 years old only 1 loss in UFC, plenty of finishes, so he's far from finished! Featherweight titla holder and can always go 155 title shot to.

Think in all honesty he pushed the boat a little to far this weekend, he still landed some good shots but for some reason it was to much for Conor. Extra weight to early maybe?

I agree Cainer, a rematch with Aldo is nice and all but some of the appeal is lost when he's fighting a guy he knocked out in 13 seconds and he's coming off a defeat. He hasn't got that godlike aura about him anymore, especially when he's tapped out.

Conor got quite lucky having the spotlight for a year when Jon Jones was banned too.

Wonderboy is my most entertaining fighter in the UFC currently, his kicking is insane.

You know nothing again, you don't fight, and you don't understand ppv ped, if anything this has made him stronger.

Here is Connor post fight interview. I reckon he can learn from this and try again. He definitely a better fighter imo than Tate. Just used the wrong gameplan.

Too much too quickly

yeah, his gameplan to fight Nate instead kinda backfired ;)

Not sure about that on the weekends performance at least.

Put simply I would say they are evenly matched on their feet with Nate having a huge advantage on the ground.

If they fight again it will be at 155, problem is after weigh ins Nate will pack more weight on so will likely be even stronger than McGregor going into the fight, he will have also had a full camp, with proper sparring and cardio.

He's one of Conor's worst match ups, he outreaches him, can stand and bang just as well, if not better than Conor, rarely ever gets rocked and if it ever goes to ground, Conor is the gazelle he kept mentioning pre fight and Nate is the boa constrictor.

If GSP comes back, Conor wants to stay away from 170 for good :D

Clearly they aren't! Conor's shoot was that of a desperate man who could see the lights going out, if he'd have stayed on his feet it was only going to be a ko/tko.

Nate didn't drag Conor down he was more than happy to stand and exchange with him, Nate knew he had Conor's number.
