How have you found it so far compared to pro evo ?
Anyone make the jump from PES 09 to fifa 10? What do you think? Not sure whether to pick this up tomorrow or wait for PES 10 reviews.
I'm still getting used to it, FIFA is more lifelike, fluid and has a lot more to it.
Pro Evo (Demo) doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. I still reckon the graphics are rubbish and whereas it feels quicker and sharper, it's just the same old thing. Crap menu's, same old licensing issues.
Gripes I have with FIFA 10 so far may well be to do with my crapness or miseducation - so please correct me if i'm wrong, but are the following:
Dodgy AI - still no running to the ball if a defender is looking to intercept. Players get in the way and dont get out of the way. AI runs are unintuitive and thats if they make runs at all. LB doesn't seem to make much improvement. Advantage system is good when it works but is buggy.
Pass speed - can't choose the pass speed. Its almost always not quick enough.
Long passing - I used to love to be able to switch play over to the other side of the pitch in pro evo with a hoofing great long ball. Have had little success with it in FIFA so far. Either doesn't make it or gets cut out.
Shots - never seem powerful enough. Same with Pro Evo. We've all seen how hard the likes of Lampard and Gerrard can spank the ball but in the games they are a bit tame.
Crossing - Much harder to do. Often bread and butter of football, i've only scored twice so far from crosses, and not connected many more.
Holding off - I have really problems holding defenders off the ball, it's like my forwards are schoolboys.
The ref - inconsistent, I get penalised for competing for the ball, CPU takes me out from behind and its a "great tackle". Pro evo wasnt much better.
Some instances of virtual pro - position penalties really disrupt the game, getting penalised for things you haven't done. Getting penalised for not making crosses when its bloody hard to make them!
What I do like is:
The complexity - Easy to pick up, yet plenty of skills to learn.
Free kicks - Feel like you have much better control, loads of options.
Finesse shots - Like these - if only it made the other shots seem even more powerful.
First touches - The right stick can be great in the right situations
Keepers - Feel much more lifelike.
Gameface and Live season - Nice touches.
Despite the niggles I love it and keep coming back to it. Not bad for £25
Any tips would be appreciate, however obvious there are.
