/EDIT - Seems my board are prepared to throw in the dosh now!!! Expanding my stadium by 1679 seats.... Taking capacity up to around 6000..... This will take 5 months and mean part of my south stand is closed. Just what I need, ticket sales being reduced :(
This caused me problems at Old Trafford. :(:p

The board reduced the capacity by a fair bit meaning I was losing money every month until the expansion was complete. Even the increased gate receipts after the expansion failed to sort out the lost money. The TV money and prize money sorted that though. :p

Went from 76k to 92k. Just got another one taking me to 100K. :D

Inter made a £38,715,000 bid for Anthony Stokes.

Woot! :D

/me rolls around in fake e-money
Why have you painted your name out? :p

got a strange issue come up, my stadium which was 'St Mary's' in Southampton has changed to 'The Sprinkler Stadium' in PORTSMOUTH!!! and is now 30000, however St Mary's under me was much bigger, i kept on badgering the board to expand which they did...... not sure what has happened. It has only changed this season. How can you view your stadium and club details?
Click on the Information text in the bar on the left or right, depending on your skin.

It could be. Don't know if this stadium issue is a bug. Load the editor up and see what there is in there about a future stadium? It could be that the board wanted a new stadium but there wasn't any space in Southampton so the board moved to Portsmouth?

What does everyone do with the training, it is something I have never tinkered with much.
I've never really played with training. :o

I use the Tug training schedules for FM08. :)

how do you inport other peoples tactics?
If you find the Sports Interactive folder (My Documents?), theres a folder called Tactics.

Or just go to your Tactics screen in game, and click the "Tactic" button at the top right, and click "Edit Tactics", then click the "Import" button and browse to the file on your computer.

How are people getting on in their games by the way?

Or you can erm....nah they've covered it. :D:p

I've found that FM doesn't create a Tactics folder in your My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008 until you do what Flibby says. Then the tactics folder is created. :)

This is probably a stupid question, but my dad just managed to get a toshiba laptop for his flat very very cheap, its specs are this:

AMD x2 (dual core) 1.9 ghz , 1mb lache.
2gb of ram
x1200 (not really important for this game :p)

So will this amd dual core and 2gb of ram run the game nicely?
Yeah it'll work fine. :)

If I can run it (just :o) on a laptop with a 1.5Ghz Celeron processor and 512Mb RAM that'll work. :p

January 2014 transfer window, Fabregas signs for Man Utd for £55M

I know you had to pay some cash for him but £55M? Is he really that worth it?
Depends on how you look at it. He is one of the best MCs in the world irl and is pretty brilliant in the game with a PA of 190s. Arsenal wanted £100m for him in FM07 I think it was. I decided not to. :p

Course you can also see it as a way of limiting Arsenal's potential. By taking Fabregas, Utd have an advantage in having Fabregas but also in that Arsenal are without a major player.

But I'd say that £55m is too much. You can buy 3/4 heck even 5/6 players who are young and perhaps not as good as Fabregas but good enough. :)

Had any players sent off or miss training? If so what did you do to them? You need to at least give them a warning.
This is what you need to be doing. If someone gets sent off for 2 yellows I warn them. If a straight red it might be a warning but perhaps a week's fine of wages.

Never had anyone miss training but warning them for a first time offence and then fining a week's wages, then 2 week's etc is a good way to enforce discipline. Either that or buy some whips. :p

I think I'm going to start a new game, with the intention of moving up the ranks. Anyone fancy a challenge I mentioned a few pages back?

Start with Oxford United. You now have 5 years to get to get as high as possible. You can of course move jobs etc.

How's about that? New thread per chance?
Hmm. Might as well keep it in here. :)

Just make the title of your posts about it "The FM challenge" or something.

Ahem! Less talk of this please. ;)

Course you all knew that you only need the FM disc to load the game up. Once you're in, you can remove the CD and place it back in the case to keep it from getting scratched. ;)

Why remove it?! You know when you turn the computer on the next day the first thing you will do is turn on your PC is run FM!

I don't think my CD has left the drive yet!
This is my opinion also. :D

FM cd ALWAYS stays in top CD drive. FM05/06/07/08 have all had that distinction. The bottom CD drive is where other games, inferior to FM reside and perhaps the odd DVD and music CD. :p

I remember the time I beat Chelsea 6-1 or something silly at home in the Carling Cup. I massively screwed up my tactics for the second leg and lost 7-2 or something like that. :o
