Anyway, after doing a quick google search, can't seem to find any news on FM09. Its usually out around September/November but i was hoping for a couple of leaked bits of info.

SI usually release the newer versions coming upto Christmas and I would imagine that this would be the same, it won't be before the new season at the earliest.

However, with FM Live being released around August time (hopefully), and although it is being programmed by a different set of staff than those making FM09 I would imagine that SI will not want to release the two too close together to avoid sales being affected.

Anyone wondered why you've never been able to alter the price of tickets for fans? May be one aspect to be able to change in the future? Just a suggestion anyway. A steady increase once you start winning tournaments etc to help cash in on your success but overdo it and you might alienate fans and lose a bit of revenue.

As Marc said. This is a chairman responsibility, and therefore something that us, as managers would not have any say in. However, I would like the option of being able to negotiate our own Sponsorship deals when the originals run out.

Ah yes. My love for Utd is too hard to beat. :(:p I just can't cope with the idea of not managing them and also taking over another team that could have to play them in Europe. :o

I find that if I manage my favourite team, in my case Spurs I usually get annoyed with the players if they don't perform as well as they should, and am a little to harsh on them.

That said, I always play my first game on all new releases with Spurs and have a save game probably around 8-9 seasons in with them.

Also, if you didn't play as United you would probably find that they tend to struggle after a few seasons. Mainly because the AI cannot get to grips with the Glazier style debt forced upon you.

It'll be last week or two of October or first week or two of November. I'd put money on last week of October to first week of November. However I think FM08 came out earlier in the week than was planned. SI Games like to release their FM games on a Friday to give players the weekend to play it rather than get sacked from their jobs for not turning up during the week. :D

But last year some naughty shops started selling a few days early to try and get some sales, so when SI realised this they rang the other retailers and said start selling now. So this could happen again but we are realistically talking about nothing more than 72 hours as the shops would need to have their stock with them to do this. Course this annoyed me as I'd ordered mine online and so it wasn't despatched until the Friday and then there was the postal strike to contend with. :( Didn't get the game until over a week after release.

I like this idea. Course anything we suggest now will be considered for the FM10 release. :D

It is difficult to think that someone like Ferguson or Wenger wouldn't have a little influence in this area. :)

I'd like to see more player influence in the pre-season friendlies. I think the manager would have near 100% control over how many, where (home or away, tournament, foreign tour) etc, against what opposition and when (how many days between) as having 2 pre-season games in 3 days isn't funny.

I'd like to be able to say 5 games over 20 day against foreign teams in say China for a money spinning tour or against top teams in the US etc. :)

I know what you mean. I often think "Your real-life counterparts just won the title, why can't you?!" :D

Also, if you didn't play as United you would probably find that they tend to struggle after a few seasons. Mainly because the AI cannot get to grips with the Glazier style debt forced upon you.
True. I never play long enough into the future before losing patience :o and starting a new game but a mate tells me that Man Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool etc get relegated in the late 2010s/2020s. :(

Course I don't because although the Glazers haven't ruined Utd (yet!) I don't like the idea of losing millions a month even though I win matches so I erm delete the loan debt and remove the Glazers from the game. :)

I was quite surprised to notice Man Utd sitting in 20th place in my third season with the mighty 'Ducks'.*
Fergie had gone, Coppell had popped in before being booted out, and now some Turkish chap is in charge. United are seemingly little more now than a mid table team in my game.

I'm hoping they might get relegated at some point so I can come to their rescue. :o I really want to mange them, but I'm not interested in taking charge of Alex Ferguson's current brood of petulant brats. :(

*currently challenging for the conference title.
:D

Coppell joins the mancs on mine too. They start off all guns blazing on all fronts but drift off on mine in both the league and europe. Ended up hovering around 6-10th around 2012-15 ish seasons

Everton also go into administration which made me smile :p

You know why Coppell joins don't you? He was at Utd as a player and in FM08 is listed as a favourite of the fans. In past FM versions whenever I got sacked :o Hughes would take over from me.

Ye I jumped to that conclusion after remembering he did play for your lot. His actual managerial stats aren't the best in the game if I remember correctly. May be that's part of the reason they suffer a decline in form

Forgot to mention that one of the regens in my game is called Christ. Well his 2nd name is Christ. Not a bad signing that would be. Christ bombs down the wing and sets up the goal!

I think its more that Utd inevitably suffer from the loan debt and so they turn to old favourites of the club who are now managers and turn to them to reverse the club's fortunes.

Meh they don't want you either. :p

More than likely the case!

Still, it was good fun insulting Sir Alex Ferguson though. I might start making snide remarks to the media about Rooney next. :D Slowly but surely, I'll wear 'em down. One day, I'll get the call.

Failing that I'll start a new game and impose A New Order at Old Trafford.

Man United have been torn apart in my game, Ronaldo's gone to Madrid (hopefully not a portent :() Rooney to Roma for 48 million (he's doing amazing there) and Frazer Campbell is the star striker :)

What a game :D

I almost went nuts when the last goal went in!

Stuttgart 1 - 0 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 1 - 1 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 2 - 1 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 2 - 2 Bayern Munchen

Half Time

Stuttgart 2 - 3 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 2 - 4 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 3 - 4 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 4 - 4 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 5 - 4 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 5 - 5 Bayern Munchen
Stuttgart 6 - 5 Bayern Munchen

Full Time

It leaves the table like this with 13 left to play.

Not bad considering last year we were 2nd and the table looked like that.

The year before that was the year I took over and was told to build a championship winning side in two years...

Very nice work. :) Amazing game. Never had one of those personally.

I've had a few 4:3's since FM2008 came out, can't say I've ever had one like that... against my closest rivals and to keep my winning streak as well.

Dead chuffed we came out on top too :)

This season has been a big success, even if we turn around and lose the title (which I seriously doubt we will).

Won the German League Cup, in the Semi's of the German Cup (looks like it'll be a FC Bayern vs Stuttgart final unless there's a shocking game in the semi's)... running away with the League.

Did okay in Europe, came third in my group.

I drew PSG, Inter and Spartak Moscow for my first European campaign with Stuttgart... Nice! :o

It's amazing how much of a gulf in class there is between the top sides in Germany and the top sides in say Italy or France though.

I trounced Spartak 4-1 and 4-0, better than PSG or Inter managed.
Setup a big defensive formation against Inter and got a 1-1 draw and a 3-1 defeat (really should have been more).

Tried to play against PSG and got beat 3-1, then went defensive and got beat 2-0.

The class difference against PSG and Inter was shocking! :(

But, 3rd means I'm now into the Uefa Cup, just beat Valerenga (Norway) 5-1 on agg. I'm through to the 2nd Knockout phase and have Athletic Club Bilbao who are sitting 11th in the Spanish First Division.

I looked at that, and thought "Easy Game... 1st in Germany vs 11th in Spain"...

Only thing is they beat Spurs to get here, who are currently first in the Premiership.

So it throws that theory right out of the window :o

Current plans for this season, at least a domestic double (League Cup and Bundesliga). With the League Cup already in the bag, and the we're running away with the Bundesliga I'd be shocked if we don't do a double!

Domestic treble would be brilliant, but I'm not getting my hopes up on that.

UEFA Cup, well I'm just waiting to see. I've been told to enjoy my experience in Europe and am doing so :)

Some big sides in the UEFA Cup though, AC Milan, Man Utd, Man City, Lyon... It would be something short of a miracle to enable me to get through that lot after the way Inter Milan and PSG slaughtered me.

Looks like you are enjoying your game. :) Have been busy with Uni so I've only dabbled here and there. The problem with me supporting Utd is that I find it too hard to manage them with the Glazers and their debt imposed on the club. So I edit the Glazers and the debt out of the game. Then it doesn't feel like a proper game. :p

Just remembered that I had a game where I somehow walloped Chelsea 6-2 or something silly in the Champions League Semi final first leg. How could I lose the second leg?

Well I set entirely the wrong tactic and by the time I noticed the aggregate score was 7-6 to them. :o

What teams does everyone start with on here? Established Premiership sides, or do they ply their trade in the lowest divisions and build up from there?
