Hmm im losing a lot of players

I don't understand, is offering them new contracts after bids for them have been accepted not working? Whack a great big signing on fee and appearance fee on too? You shouldn't lose so many players! I stopped Traoré and Sakho getting snapped up by doing this.

DC, AMR if Navas goes, ST and perhaps an AML.

Well, you have a lot to spend, so I recommend Micah Richards for DC (also ace at DR), Robben for AML to replace Sneijder (might be too expensive), Modric is cheap and can play anywhere in midfield, Montolivo (I think maybe he's just AMC), and James Vaughan from Everton for upfront with Huntelaar (not such a big name, just in case Bojan doesn't go, fingers crossed eh)

Edit: Oh, and my perennial recommendation, Lukas Podolski, possibly one of the most consistent players ever in FM, and he's cheap, always happy, low wage demands, young, scores every type of goal

^ its because the chairman accepts the offers, i offer them a new contract, but the teams offering the money are like AC Milan, Villareal, Barcelona etc.

What formation are you playing? Got any DM's? Or at least one of your MC set as super defensive, no creativity? Also try Slow tempo, Short passing for the team, hopefully you won't give the ball away as much

Hey guys I need a little help with Ac Milan in my network game with my mate!

Ok I just about won the Title last Season for the first time in 4 Seasons!.

Now you think with a team like Ac Milan they would have **** loads off money. But in the 4th Season now the money as disappered . We are now like 35th Richest Club in the game! The Club only has off a value of 60 million now!.

And all the money I put into players in the first 2-3 season did well. But now in the 4th Season I have like nearly no money and the team is starting to struggle to win games.

You lose money depending if you exit cups, dont come as high in leagues, signing new contracts/players with high sign on fee etc.

Tried with one or two DMs, doesn't seem to help. I've not gone in and messed around with the individual player settings though, perhaps I should?

right enough of the sales pitch, seriously if yer bored with the FM database as it is and want to inject some life, pick a team anyteam and the likelihood is legends of the past will be playing there, you want pele, maradona, gascoigne there in there, you wqant charlton best and pearce guess what ?

personally Im loving it all legends seem tied to the club they start at for the first season but they are playing for the first clubs in most cases, i.e archie Gemmill plays for Forest etc etc.

the only downside is the transfer prices get a bit crazy as all these legends are 16-19 year old at the start of the game, for example Bobby Moore cost me the best part of £40m

but anyway if you fancy a change google the legends update for now or wait until the sigames forums are back up.

Managing finances is tricky, look at your income and expenditures and see what stands out, are you spending a lot on signing on fees? is your wage bill too high? Try and get rid of players with mediumish contracts in your reserves. Take some screenies of your income and expenditure screens and stick them on here.

Funnie thing is I just got like 23 Million cause one off the players I sold had made 50 apps for his new club so that is my xmas transfer budget sorted. I think things are back on the up slowly put surely .

by the looks of that unless yer buiying players for 1-2 million squid you have bought a few if not a lot of players with the 100k a month or whatever add ons.

I never ever do that as it hammers youre monthly expenditure too much, same for your bonuses averaging 500k a month is not good.


on top of that yer merchandising sales are poor, you need a feeder club which will provide a commercial benfeit, i.e an american or japanese one. these can boost your monthly revenue by 1-2 million on there own.

and foinally as a rule your wages should be less than yer monthly gate receipts imho otherwise you are asking for trouble

I reduced the wages bill to £15 under budget which the board are happy about however:

I've improved the bank balance (through a good cup run and selling a youngster or 2) to -£900k.

The board confidence however is empty and they are 'distraut and devasted at the state of the finances'. Surely they should take into account the starting position when I took over as there's no way I could clear the whole £1m debt after 8 months in the conference.

I'm not in danger of getting sacked due to our performances on the pitch but this is just frustrating.

The other thing is that my manager stat for financial control is decreasing because of this which is a joke as i've only gone and made them money.

I've had this lying around since release, I stopped playing at FM2006 and only took the plunge when 2008 came out but I think my FM spirit ran dry by then so it spent most of its life on the shelf.

Still I may give it another bash, so anyone know any cheap players I can get for Sunderland at the start of the season?

Nothing yet. SI Forums are down for a redesign and move to new servers/forum software. It'll be late October to early November at the latest.

Think it's one of the problems with 08. Not sure if the last patch fixed it but it's a problem with taking over teams that if in debt or well down the league the board can return negative views even if you improve things.

Remember one game where Liverpool got off to a awful start, sacked manager brought someone else in who improved results and saw them slowly move up the table but he was eventually sacked due to the unacceptable league position (He'd lost one league game in ten).

I've got FMM and think I might have to go down this road if my job becomes insecure. Hopefully won't need to but unless someone comes in with a big offer for one of my £10k youngsters I might have to!

Playing off 8.02 so unfortunately it didn't. Will just have to hope it's fixed in 09.

Yeah that was awful.

I remember before that patch I took Swansea to the Premiership, but was told to be an "established Championship side after 3 years", despite winning back to back promotions then finishing 14th in the Premier League they wanted to sack me
