Out of curiosity, how far do you guys get into a game before you start over?

I've been to roughly 2020 before (IIRC), but I'm in 2014 now.

Problem here is that I've built Stuttgart up to such a dominant team, it's losing it's charm.

I've won the...
Bundesliga 3 years in a row.
German Cup 4 years in a row. (Played Schalke in the final for the last 4 years)
German League cup 3 years in a row. (Played Schalke in the final for the last 3 years)
Champions League 2 years in a row, UEFA Cup the year before that.
UEFA Super Cup.... Winner/Runner Up/Winner
FIFA Club World Cup 2 years in a row.

I've also had an entirely undefeated season in all of that, in European games, Cup games and Domestic League.

My team is half regens and half real players, I've made a habit of scouring the game for under 16's that have a high asking or bags of potential. About 80% of these come good, and a fair few have made it into my first team squad by the time their 18/19.

The regens get played in the first team enough to start building their skill levels a little higher that season, and then the big teams start offering silly money for them.

I can't remember the exact year, but I tend to keep going until I don't recognise most of the players anymore, or I've won everything. I think I did in the old CM days, but I've not won any international tournaments on FM yet :(

I don't think I have ever accepted an international job, on any FM or CM game :o

I've been offered a fair few over the years (real and game) but I honestly don't think I've ever said yes.

I enjoy club football and the continuous games, and the overall "This is my squad" feel you get after running the club for 4 or 5 season. :)

You don't give up your club job when you accept the national team one.

At the moment I'm managing both Halifax and Algeria. Algeria are pretty rubbish and the only reason I'm with them is that it should improve my worldwide reputation a lot quicker than if I just play in the domestic leagues week in week out.

As for length of play, in FM08 I think my longest save is to about 2016(ish) and my current save is to 2011. I'm going to try to keep this one going til the FM09 demo comes out so should get quite a few more seasons out of it.

Oh really? :o I didn't know this... damn it.

So you just accept the International job?

What happens when international games fall on the same day as your club matches?

Unless you're Brazil/Argentina etc its very unlikely.

Plus you have assistants.

Its fun being both international and club :). You get to watch games, scouting your players too.

Yeah, just accept it and you'll get a message along the lines of: "England unveiled Nikebee as their new manager, with Nikebee set to divide his time between club and country..."

I've had quite a few games on the same day as league matches: you set up both teams and submit them, then just play them one after the other. Y

You can offer your club staff contracts with the national team as well.

Started a game with the mighty Bath City a while ago. Am now in my third season after loosing in the conference South playoffs the first season, and despite having finished my second season with 99 points, still finished 2nd to Forest Green but won the playoffs, so am starting life in the conference Premier.

The key to my sucess was loan players, in the season i got promotion, had Tirstan Plummer on loan from bristol City who bagged my 38 goals in all competitions, also had Kevin Cawley who got me 28 goals and also Ryan McCord, who bagged me 25 goals from central midfield, all from Bristol City.

Play pretty much a standard 4-4-2. The right sided Cm is set to make forward runs to the left, and the left Cm set to make runs behind and to the right, has been my tactic since Cm 99/00 and has never served me wrong once i got the players in who could play the formation.

Currently my team consists of such household names as,

Gk - Chris Goodchild / Danzelle St Louis-hamilton
DR - Stuart Whitehead / Matias Hasund
DL - Sean Taylor / Michael Wylde
DC - Chris Shanks / Aaron Dalhouse
DC - Tommy Smith (loan from Bristol city) / Michael Raynes
MR - Danny Green / Danny Williams
ML - Adam Rundle / Lee Woodward
MC - Mark Byrne / Oliver Hotchkiss
MC - Oliver Fenn / Benjamin Webster
ST - Dax hoogerwerf / Chris Davis
ST - Tomi Ameobi / Chris Hanna

Hoping to consolidate in the Conference this season and then look to push on after that, my team is extreemly young with only 3/4 players in my squad over the age of 24, with most being between 18 and 21. Hopefully i'll get some money for transfers at some point considering i've increased Baths bank balance to about 150k from bugger all in 2 and a bit years.

Who are the best players in each position at the start of the game?

GK: Casillas/Cech
DL: Lahm?
DC: Terry/Ferdinand (guessed)
DR: Alves

Anyone else?

I think Buffon is the best GK.

You could work out the best XI with genie scout, I'm on a mac so I can't use it :p

Yeah, creating a uber team, got bored.

So im guessing from memory lol.

So far ive added these players to Utd;

Igor Akinfeev
Iker Casillas
Philip Lahm
Marcelo
John Terry :p
Ronaldinho
Rafinha
Daniel Alves
Bojan
David Villa
Silva
Wesley Sneijder
Sergio Ramos
Fabio Cannavaro
Luis Jimenez
Rafael Van der Vaart

That'll do, now to sell loads and see if i have forgotten any!
