There are a lot of online games run that use set databases or countries and you pick what team you want to be. The main SI forums has an online section to their forums and games are listed there, other sites do the same.

Onto tactics i am busy creating new ones, still tweaking existing ones but there seems to be a major problem in the game AI wise in this update. I have been scouting the upcoming teams i will be facing and they are all leaning towards the same set up, defensive, set ways of playing and are becoming very hard to deal with. Now this is admittedly at League 2 level in England but seems others on the SI forums are having same issues with other leagues using top teams both old saved games and new games they have set up.

So thought i'd give everyone a heads up that it is now becoming hard to get a gelling of the team at some levels due to a bit too much formation tweaking. Means the team struggles for consistancy and i am hoping it settles down later in the game on my previous saved games, might be an end of season fix but some are saying same with a brand new game.

The AI's set way of being defensive in conjuction with the long shooting bug, the reduced scoring rate from chances on goal when 1 on 1 which for the AI teams at times isn't an issue but for us when a striker is missing 5 1 on 1 chances in game after game something has gone slightly wrong. Yet part of the update list says things should have been improved for this section to reduce the easy misses but so far it isnt working as intended.

I will soldier on with the tactics and do my best to deal with the issues hoping a new patch later sorts it out, as bar the issues the new patch is an improvement overall and with the issues sorted later the game for me will be almost 100%.

Well I offered the player a new contract and he's now got a work permit. Sweet. Just played his first game and netted two against Chelsea. Sergio Ageuro.

Congrats on signing Ageuro, him and Bojan two of the brightest young talents in the game today.

An update on my game...

It's my fourth season in charge at Swansea City, and it has the potential to be a very successful one.

1st Season: League One Champions, Johnstone Paint Trophy, FAW Premier Cup
2nd Season: 2nd in the Championship, FAW Premier Cup
3rd Season: 14th in the Premiership, FAW Premier Cup

This season (all be it only a few games old) has gone very well so far.
I've won 5 games of the 7 games played, my two defeats come from Man Utd (2-1) and Middlesbrough (3-0).

I've discovered that I am well and truely Liverpool's bogey team in the Premiership. We've played each other 3 times and a total of 16 goals have been scored in the games we've played.

First crack at them last season resulted in a fantastic 4-3 defeat, but it was possibly the game of the season for the league... For the Swansea fans, their game of season came a few months later when we played again... this time to a 4-3 win in an absolute stormer of a performance from my lads.

This year, we beat them 2-0 and out played them for the majority of the game.

I'm beating the teams I'm expected to be close to in the league, and I'm hanging in there with the big dogs. So we should have a very pleasurable season if things carry on the way they're going.

Shockers from last season, and the start of this season.

Wigan are now in administration, and started this year with a 10 point penalty in the Championship.

The end of last season saw Spurs get relegated

The big clubs are jumping for joy at the chances to sign players like King, Bent, Berbatov, Lennon (etc) for cheap as chips money. Berbatov is now only worth around £5,000,000 due to dropping a division, he's content at White Hart Lane... but if a top club puts an offer in he'll be gone!

Arsenal have proceeded to purchase almost every single player I've had on my long term wish list; that you just know will bloom into a fantastic talent and that in a few more seasons you may just get lucky and be able to tempt to your squad.

The young talent in the game are quickly being snapped up by the Gunners - Vincent Kompany is their latest addition - and they are looking a real force to be reckoned with.

My only hickup this season (again it's relatively early in the season) has been a 2-1 defeat to a nine-man Blackburn in my first game in the Carling Cup... which nobody was pleased about to say the very least.

Looks like your enjoying your time there nikebee. In my game I am 14 games into my first season in the Premiership and Wolves are sitting nicely in 10th place.

I have only played 1 of the big guns so far and that ended in a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge, conceeding the winner in the 88th minute. I have been impressed with Eastwood and Keogh so far, they have settled into the Premiership really well, and Eastwood is the leagues top scorer at the moment.

Micoud has been a revelation for me since his free transfer signing, keeping Hamilinen out of the starting XI. I signed Allan McGregor from Rangers to replace Hennessey in goal, but the welshman isnt giving up his spot, and I havent given the Scotman a game in the league yet.

By contrast, Spurs are 9 points clear already, so taking note of where they are in your game nikebee they might yet be catchable.

I love/hate this game for the time it consumes from my life when i should be doing uni work. ARG lol, was up till like 3am the other night thinking , oh, only a few more games till the end of the season and i migt win the premiership with arsenal at last and trust it would take until the last game to decide who won.

HAHA

Nikebee, as above, do you play BF2?

Howdy,

I haven't played BF2 since about 4-5 months after it's release, and don't own a copy any more. My PC isn't up to 3D games at the moment either :o

Random BSODs when it starts playing an intensive 3D game... I seriously need to sort that out. :o

Anyone got any recommendations for a central midfielder and right back for under a million each? Having a reshuffle in my Sunderland squad and need new players for those positions but hardly got any cash and can't find anyone decent.

If he hasn't been snapped up already or signed a new contract Sergei Ignashevich would be more than competant at filling the void at left back. As for central midfield. In my Wolves game I obtained the services of Anthony Barry from Yeovil in a px deal and he is playing superbly for me in the Premiership, so could do a good job for you also.

I didn't pay for him as was included in a px deal for one of my players, the deal was worth about £80,000 so cannot see him costing too much. Only other player I can suggest is an AMRLC called Kasper Hamilinen who plays for the Finnish club that Mika Aaritalo plays for, he is oustanding and shouldn't cost any more than £250,000 depending if he has been snapped up or not yet.

The Brazilian CAM Rafinha can be bought quite cheap, he was a right so and so to get a valid work permit for when I was in League 1 though.

Shouldn't be too much problem for a Premiership side.

He's got bags of talent early on, and looks to be one of the brightest stars in the game.

is anyone else having an absolute mare with this game after the patch ?

personally i started again with bayern munich and scoring once again seems nigh on impossible.

Nope. Scoring seems to be easier for me than it was with the Beta Patch. Keogh and Eastwood cannot stop scoring at the moment, just a shame the patch didnt sort out my leaky defence.

Checked him out but he isn't great in the position I need him for, cheap though and the stats aren't bad so I might try and pick him up for future use.

Stats are great on him, but in my game he's just been bought and now has a minimum release caluse of £97,000,000

Can't see all this guys stats unfortunately, so having to scout him. Looks half decent from the ones I can see though, shame it didn't show me the marking/tackling/heading stats :)

Oddly Kasper Hamilinen or his club don't appear in my game, not sure why.

In the mean time I did manage to get Justin Hoyte from Arsenal on loan until the end of the season which temporarily sorts my right back issues, although definetly need something long term.

Cheers for the suggestions guys

Spotted this on the Premiership News as Liverpool were after him, looks a really quality defender for his price. In case any of you are playing clubs that have a decent budget :)

Andrea Barzagli

Wow! Bought him on FM06 as he was brilliant. Don't think he was as good in FM07 but granted he looks pretty darned good there. Gonna have to get him to stop Chelsea getting him. :D

The main SI forums are full of complaints over this issue at present so you aren't the only one experiencing this. Seems there is a bug/issue with the long shooting settings not being followed in team instructions correctly so instead of the striker running in to take the keeper on they shoot far too early. Or there is the finishing 1 on 1 bug which means top players can miss 5 or more of these situations in a game for multiple games in a row, again on the main SI forums. Yet the AI teams are unaffected by these issues when you face them.

Also from my first season after the patch i found the AI teams all using defensive outlooks with counter attacking 90% of the time, this is also part of the scoring issue for the game. I only discovered this because i decided to scout my next opponents and saw the same thing team after team. So as i said earlier above this is making it hard to deal with teams tactically and means a lot of tweaking to try to find the right formation/tactics.

Fair enough, I'm 4 seasons in now and he's really blossomed into a great star :)

He's decent enough early on, but not a short term fix for a position for a premiership club I guess.

He's a long term investment, just like Kerlon/Lulinha or any other bright Brazilian talent.
