started as unemployed (cos i like a challenge), no league teams will employ me even tho i applied for the Nigeria managers job and got it , now 9 wins out of 9 internationally and still even Leaugue 2 clubs wont sign me GRRRRRRRRRRRR

You wanted a challenge :p.

No. You can carry on with saved games when you add a patch but the game has already been made with the previous database. Any changes to the match engine etc and fm.exe should be seen but in terms of database updates you won't see them until you make a new game.

That's why I half love, half hate patches for FM. I'll be doing well on a game and then a patch comes out so I feel I have to start a new game. Plenty of people don't bother with making a new game though. They'll install the patch for the bug fixes but won't bother with taking advantage of the new database.

You had your own bug?! How did you do that? :p

Seriously now, what bug? :)

Well now it wasn't my bug, just the only one I'd been experiencing that could have ruined the game.

As I said, I was just finished with my 3rd year with Swansea.

I'd won the Division One, came second in the Championship, and placed 14th in the Premiership. Three time holder of the FAW Premier Cup as well as picking up the Johnstones Paint Trophy in my opening year.

However, because the boards "Three Year Plan" was that I should be an established Championship side... they refused to offer me a new contract. Because I was no longer in the Championship they felt I hadn't achieved it.

The patch now realises that if your a division higher than they expected after three years (or how ever many they had in their plan) that you've far exceeded their expectations.

I now have a new contract, and have been told to be an established Premiership side in the next two years.

I'll never start a new game, unless a patch deemed my saved game unplayable. I don't see the point in starting fresh because transfer updates have been included - when I'm 3 or 4 years into my game anyway, and the chances are that that player would have been sold to someone anyway :p

Haha brilliant bug! Didn't know about that. So because you got promoted from the Championship and not relegated or even stayed in there the board were unhappy? :D

You can understand that Man Utd don't make those kind of demands on me. :p

starting to love this game now.

just coming to the end of my thrid season as man utd manager and won the PL again, still a few niggles but hopefully the new patch will sort them out.

My team is aweosme however i have far too many players lol need to reduce my squad in the summer, however finally making money as man utd and have a healthy balance and expect a huge transfer budget next season.

Dos santos has been a revelation for me this season fantastic left winger and very young as well

worth 21.5 mill ( i signed on a free) and stats played 31, 7 Goals and 16 Assists.

I am still playing a slightly tweaked set of the SCM tactics he has posted to good affect and finally with the new patch seem to be able to defend which is a bonus :p

looking forward ot finishing the season got 2 league games and CL Semi final second leg against RM at the bernabau (won 3-1 at home) then the FA Cup final.

may change jobs ina year or two though as i love the challenge of bringing a former giant back to glory so will take over a championship / serie b side possibly.

Well they still haven't fixed some of the issues in the game for me and others it seems on the SI forums

1. Closing down - this has improved but the tackling on the AI side when they do this to the player controlled team is still miles apart. The amount of times the AI team sticks the foot in and clears the ball compared to my team is getting annoying. My players are miles better yet the AI defenders tackles like a team a league above at times. They can still waltz through my defence with no player tackling and score goals while most of the time they clear the same for me.

2. The dreaded greys - this might not affect all of us here but if you are a lower league manager these teams of grey AI generated players can be death for your managerial career. With the tweaked board happiness, cups and rounds reached still play a part in your chances of being kept on. I played one team there in a new save 2 days apart due to a replay, my players didnt recover to the first game conditon levels but the grey team was back at full 100% even after playing the game 2 nights before.

3. Injury lists - this has gone nutty compared to the last patch and i have 4 long term victims with odd additions every few weeks. I have on average 6 players out at any one time and when the patch has lost 2 players you should have as an LLM manager in your squad it makes things hard. My youngsters are filling in very well and i have discovered a 16 year old hotshot striker so not all bad but too many injuries.

4. Strikes on target - again maybe not too much of an issue for the higher league teams a lot of us are playing but for me as an LLM it is a nightmare. They have reduced the chances of player controlled strikers scoring or hitting the target however the AI teams are still walking through defences and scoring the same goals as before the patch, even if its about their only chance at times it is a guaranteed goal. There is also horror stories of some players whose teams are hitting 30 shots in a game and scoring one while the AI team gets 3 and scores 2, there is also one where a grey AI team played Rangers in a pre season friendly and had 60 shots against Rangers.

5. Numerous data issues - there are still leagues in the game worldwide that are still unplayable which is not making the locals to those leagues happy.

Overall it is a step in the right direction but there is still a lot to fix in the game to make it more balanced than it is now.

tbh for us higher league managers the scoring bug still exists i have had numerous games whereby i have had over 25 shots and 15 or more on target to win by only 1-0 or get beat due to the AIs only breakaway.

it needs to be addressed, i dont care what they say wayne rooney missing 4 on 4 one on ones (in one game) is not the norm, however if this game is realisitc then it should be expected.

I started a new league with Leeds with the new patch, I'm just blooming happy I'm not having to deal with dissalowed goals now, only had one in about 12 games!

Obviously it's a challenge playing with Leeds and starting with -15 points, it annoys me how the makers of FM haven't taken this into account and although I'm winning matches and remain 24th I get no credit whatsoever, my league kinda reflect that of the 'real' Leeds, it's 4th December, and I'm 8th and unbeaten! 18 games played, 12 won, 6 drawn and +20, 27 points. Unfortunately Yeovil are running away with the league, they have 41 points.

I got a player called Jaime Peters n loan from Ipswich, he's 20 and has been amazing for me. I recommend him highly for League 1/Championship sides.

Will keep you updated on my progress:)

Started my first season in the Premiership with Wolves last night, and only managed to play the first 4 league games and 1 league cup game (not sure why, as a Premiership side I was forced to play in the first round, but nevermind).

I started the season at home to Newcastle, and took a spanking, suffering a 4-2 defeat. Was doing really well, but soft goals at the start of the second half and a late 4th killed us off. The change in fitness being key.

Then hammered Reading at home, with Freddy Eastwood netting 4 in 21 minutes in a 4-1 win, which also saw Olifinjana getting sent off late on.

We then took Shrewsbury apart 4-1 in the cup, with Wayne Hennessey scoring a free kick Paul Robinson style.

A 3-1 win away to Championship winners Watford catapulted us to 6th before losing 1-0 at home to Portsmouth thanks to Jermain Defoe's 90th minute penalty. Thats where I ended it last night.

My star so far apart from Freddy Eastwood and Andy Keogh is Johan Micoud my french summer signing.

My story so far

Ok here's my post for my first 12 months as a manager. I started as an ex-sunday league player with Blackburn. I figured that they'd be a good team to start with as there in UEFA got a decent squad and a few players worth selling like Brett Emerton. I started quite well especially in the UEFA cup winning the group stage against tough opposite like bayer leverkusen. I got drawn against werder bremen in the next stage and I lost the first game 4 - 0 away. This was shocking we we're playing away so I played a defensive minded 4 5 1 playing long balls through to Santa Cruz hoping to hit them on the break and they just demolished us. Anyway after that I faced the top four teams as which I lost closely too. I went from 9th to about 14th and then 4 key players were injured this obviously didn't help. Some players who I had brought in couldn't play due to work permit problems. They sacked me with a month to go til the end of the seaon.

So I took other at ....... Bognor Regis - oh yeah. They were lying 20th or 21st in the Blue Square South division. I took them other with 4 games left to play. We played the top four teams - disaster?? Nope we won 3 of those games and we were safe. My aim at this point was to build the team get them playing full time and conquer the divisions but then I was offered the Rusden and Diamonds job which I took after seeing their resources. Started there bought some players sold some players. Only 3 games in and i'm lying 6th. Media prediction is to come mid table with odds of 35.00 to win the league hopefully i'm hoping to dispell this and get promotion.

Normally I start off with a team and get them to be as best as possible before I quit/ get bored/naffed off but this year i'm going try to jump ship when possible to better teams. Wow that was a bit lengthy!

Haha brilliant bug! Didn't know about that. So because you got promoted from the Championship and not relegated or even stayed in there the board were unhappy? :D

You can understand that Man Utd don't make those kind of demands on me. :p

Yeah tell me about it :o

"Your not an established Championship side my boy... we're going to have to let you go..."
"But we're in the Premiership... and we will be next year too... I kept us up!"
"Premiership? Ha what is this thing you talk about!? Charlton, Sunderland and Scunthorpe are the only clubs I want to play against... they'll bring in the real money!"

0_o

I ended up using that FM Cheat to give myself another couple of months as manager :o It was the only way around the bug! I didn't want to leave the club I'd done so well with!

Patch installed and I've now signed a propper 2 year deal and they now realise I've done stupendously well to hang on in the Premiership and they want to be an decent Premier League side in the next two years.

Could be a tough one with a media prediction of 19th this year though... mind you last year I was predicted 20th and came 14th... Villa came 3rd last year and only lost the title on the last day to Man Utd who drew with Chelsea (who came 2nd) to beat Villa by a single point and beat Chelsea on goal difference.
