Two words: "Sergio Aguero". Buy him, buy him now. By a country mile, the best player I have come across.
Going to try and get him in the summer. :)

Yep I'm very happy that this thread is doing so well. I hoped that having a single thread would benefit us all and it looks like keeping it all in one place is and will help. :)

I signed Alfonso Alves for Fulham, and they said he wont have work permit till 1st October, now its still saying he needs a WP, but hes in my team and ive paid for him.

Same goes for Guilherme and Morais. Any ideas how to get a WP?

You can still sign players even if they do not obtain a work permit. In order for you to be able to play them you need to ship them out on loan to one of your feeder clubs to obtain a work permit. It is usually 2 or 3 seasons depending on the country you are sending them.

Obviously, you need to have a feeder club that takes advantage of this rule, the best known country for this is Belgium. You can find out if your affiliated clubs are going to provide this by selecting the affiliated clubs option from the team screen and looking at the information for all the feeder teams.

There is no doubt Aguero is a great player, but he comes at a high price, and there are better European prospects out there.

You need to consider how often you will lose him to International duty with Argentina, especially with the Olympics he is still eligible for. You also have Tevez, so you will effectively be losing two of your front men, and I recall you also signing Rodrigo Palacio, so that would be 3 of your strikers out for long periods of time playing for Argentina.

There are better long term European prospects if I am honest.

Exactly I always start off with Bury and get them promoted as high as possible and then I try to jump ship to a Championship club and work from there. It's too easy to start with a top ten team as you'll likely to do well for a few years and that gets quite tedious. Glad to see that you can manage in the Blue Square Premier I might give that a go.

If you turn on all the leagues in game you can manage in the leagues below the Blue Square Premier league and go down to an even more lower league management experience.

True. Suggest some of the European prospects then. :p

I was born there :) Don't have any memories of it as my family moved away from there when I was 3 but figured I'd try their team in this due to that.

Well they struggled last year but this year they are about mid table. If you do well you can get Reading as your Parent club which is great for getting you out of the lower leagues.

Cool :) I've not gone too far into the game yet but hopefully I'll manage to turn their prospects around ;)

Getting a good few loan players in is the key to success with the lower leagues i have found.

In the last game 07, i got a goalie, Central Mid and a striker and that helped me climb two leagues in two sessions. Then they left and i got relegated lol

I paid 38.5m for him which, whilst not cheap, is hardly a massive fee for someone who is a match-winner. As for him being away on international duty, I've got a few South Americans, never really been an issue. Mexico seem to have some odd scheduling dates but on the whole, it's fine. And aren't the Olympics held in summer? :p

Thanks for the advice :) I've not got any money for transfers so I just need to find someone willing to play for such a low league team I think :D

Need a few players - any recommendations?

Goalkeeper - Ustari, Ochoa, Akinfeev
Left Back - Marcelo (cant get him), Shorey
Right Back - Alves, Wilson
Centre Backs - Kompany & not sure

Left Wing - not sure
Right Wing - not sure
Centre Mid - not sure

Striker - need another, just signed Vagner Love.

Any ideas? :D

Wont sign all, just some ideas where to sign.

Aguero is good, a little faster than Tevez but hardly a different player. However he does seem to be one of the best strikers on the game, as for european players as good as Aguero I dont think you can pick one in all honesty maybe Rooney, but if im not mistaken he has worse finishing stats that Aguero, for someone like Man Joo then Aguero can be a superb signing, if you were a side just outside the top 4 in Prem then id recommened players like Podolski, Martins, Utaka, Uche, Amauri & Edison Cavani. Possibly also Mauro Zarante & Defoe. Pretty much any striker with pace, acceleration, finishing and composure is a superstar on the FM games. Remember on FM07 Billy Sharp and Danny Haynes would tear up the Premier League, probably same will happen on this game.
