I've found that FM doesn't create a Tactics folder in your My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008 until you do what Flibby says. Then the tactics folder is created. :)
 
This is probably a stupid question, but my dad just managed to get a toshiba laptop for his flat very very cheap, its specs are this:

AMD x2 (dual core) 1.9 ghz , 1mb lache.
2gb of ram
x1200 (not really important for this game :p)

So will this amd dual core and 2gb of ram run the game nicely?

Yeah it'll work fine. :)

If I can run it (just :o) on a laptop with a 1.5Ghz Celeron processor and 512Mb RAM that'll work. :p

Depends on how you look at it. He is one of the best MCs in the world irl and is pretty brilliant in the game with a PA of 190s. Arsenal wanted £100m for him in FM07 I think it was. I decided not to. :p

Course you can also see it as a way of limiting Arsenal's potential. By taking Fabregas, Utd have an advantage in having Fabregas but also in that Arsenal are without a major player.

But I'd say that £55m is too much. You can buy 3/4 heck even 5/6 players who are young and perhaps not as good as Fabregas but good enough. :)
 
Arsenal are generating some cash. They have just sold Guardado to Liverpool for £43M :p They paid £38M for him 5 seasons ago.

With Fabregas gone to Man Utd, they just collected £98M from 2 players, bet the board are happy :p

I bought kompany for around 10 mil and sold him for 25 the next season, agger and sissoko went for 12 each...

I have 23 mil in the kitty and want a new player, either a striker or right midfielder. I cant attract the likes of bojan, pato, dos santos etc. They have no interest ;(. Does anyone have any recomendation. Oh, Won the FA cup first season, second in the league. Won the Fa cup and Premiership in the second. Currently top by 5 points in jan 2010 and still in all competitions.

Any advice would b appreciated :D

Just a quick update on my game with Barnsley.

After winning the quad I decided to look for a new challenge. Inter approached me with a 30M budget so I decided to take it.

They had Guardado and a few other players so I sold him for £35M to Arsenal.

There seems to be a slight bug with my game though. Barnsley (my old club) offered me Carlos Vela for 2.5M, so I went with it and managed to lure him to Inter!

Looks like I'm going to have to pay £20M to get Akinfeev from them though.

Well guys currently a bit perplexed, toom my Atletico team who finished 10th last season to 2nd this season. Mainly using loan players and a few signings as detailed above. Got to the final of the Spanish cup where i got beat 3-1 by Barcelona, yet my board are only satisfied ?

In far the bar is a long way into the yellow saying i need to improve my league performance pronto.

Well TBh with the bit part team i put together i persoanlly am over the moon with a second place finish and champions league football now next season when i was expected to get uefa football ? Is this a bug ?

TBh I dont really care as long as it doesnt lead to me getting sacked ASAP :p

anywqay Aguero is a legend scoring an amazing 31 League Goals this season and winning the Golden Boot 40 in all competitions as well as 13 assists, Forlan also came good towards the end of the season and Welliton has been banging them in :) Onto next season now when the game really begins.

Have got

GK: Isaksson - Free (needed another played all of last seaosn with only 1 recognised keeper)
Utility: Mathieu - Free
DMC: Alou Diarra - £10mill
AMR: Joaquin - £10mill plus Forlan

However my squad is massively thinned out after getting rid of some tosh and out of contracts so need to get in the Transfer market ASAP.

This is what you need to be doing. If someone gets sent off for 2 yellows I warn them. If a straight red it might be a warning but perhaps a week's fine of wages.

Never had anyone miss training but warning them for a first time offence and then fining a week's wages, then 2 week's etc is a good way to enforce discipline. Either that or buy some whips. :p

I had it happen with 2 players. Generally unhappy and wanted to play for bigger clubs, or wanted new contracts. I generally warn them, and fine if they repeat.
One of those players who wanted to go to 'bigger' club than Cambridge went to Leeds, a league below and ended up in the reserves, whilst Cambridge went on to the Premier League!


I think I'm going to start a new game, with the intention of moving up the ranks. Anyone fancy a challenge I mentioned a few pages back?

Start with Oxford United. You now have 5 years to get to get as high as possible. You can of course move jobs etc.

How's about that? New thread per chance?
