And I'm on 11hrs17min and on 8%, battery definitely doesn't hold out as much as my iPhones used to.

Will rooting and changing to a custom ROM affect battery life positively?

Changing your Radio ROM is perhaps the biggest factor. With KK6 and KK7 I was getting this type of life. Swap back to KK1 and my battery lasts twice as long.

i only like slip cases, and sena are the daddy, proper leather ;)

Same here, I only like the proper quality leather slip cases. They don't add bulk, don't look cheap and nasty and mean that the phone is as intended when you're using it.

No idea why people buy these cheapo nasty plastic cases to stick on their state of the art £500 smart phones

I've always used the sena slip cases and they are superb. Just wondering whether it's worth replacing my fitbag with one.

if you are rooted you can follow these instructions to update manually. some people have said it updates ok with unlocked bootloader and root, others say it doesnt work (it failed to update on mine)

Clicky

basically you copy the update file after it has downloaded from the cache folder onto the sd card partition (or download the update from google). then boot into clockwork mod recovery (without installing it,so stock recover is still intact) and run the update file.

you shouldnt need to re-root.

Just done this this morning :)

Worked like a charm, many thanks for the headsup, roll on 4.0.3! lol

same, but i've found it now. rip off at £49.99 though :(

edit: preorder only

Does seem a high price even though it does include the car charger lead, Mobile Fun got it listed. Any idea if the car lead from my HTC Desire will work, its the same connector. As to car holder, I've got a Brodit passive mount for the Desire, 2 small screws removes that and I'll fit the GN one when it becomes available in the new Year, will be about £25 for that bit alone.

Just come back from the Vodaphone shop where they have a couple in. Definitely my next phone.

Currently with T Mobile. Earliest before I can get a new phone is March 4th. They would charge me £70 to come out of the contract early but don't have the Nexus.

With Voda

24 Month contract
900 Mins, unlimited texts, 750MB data
£70 credit, Free phone, £41 per month

Or

600 Mins, Unlimited texts, 500MB data
£70 credit, £99 Phone, £36 per month

Any good?

@Tubes and @Asgard

By the time you are ready to buy the phone in March, price should be lower so I would not get too worried about things now. As existing Voda customer, they gave me £ 31pm, 600 talk, 1 gb data, 1 gb BT WiFi OpenZone, 100 free picture messages, unlimited text, 24 months. Hope that price significantly lower by March for your benefit.

I appreciate your sentiments about not waiting until March. I could not do it either. I was reminded of how amazing the GNex is tonite when family and friends in the US using G+ Hangouts included me on their video Hangout and I participated in the video call entirely on my GNex. No lag, the picture was amazing and the Hangout was great fun. I find I am using Google + more and more.
