What would a tablet like this be like for reading technical books (pdfs or proper ebook formats) with diagrams and such? I've got a kindle (last generation one) which is usable however the lack of colour has always irked me and the lack of ability to zoom in quickly and easily on certain things (for diagrams or whatever) is annoying.

I imagine it would be great for such things.

I'm not bothered about the lack of a micro slot as I've managed without one on my previous two Nexus phones. Unless you plan to stick onlots of movies it should be sufficient for most people with 16.gb.

Time to sell the iPad. As much as I like the iPad I do prefer Android, I got shot of my iPhone 4 for a Sensation and never regretted it, and recently stuck a custom ICS rom onto a Xoom for someone and really liked it.

I already had the 32GB card in my S2, so swapped that out for a spare 16GB I had.

Tab is a 16GB Wifi only version, bought from an overseas supplier for £350 2 months ago.

You can get the same for £380 in the UK now. The 3G version is the pricey one, and I if really need access out and about, I just turn my S2 in to a portable hotspot.

Too much of a price difference... I would pick the Nexus.

Sweet benchmarks.

Its already looking like a steal for the money. Glad I ordered one last night.

Does anyone know when shipping will be? They say mid July but anything more specific?

Go for one of these or save for Ipad 3 32GB or possibly wait for Ipad 4...hmm.

You can probably buy two or three of these for the price of that one ipad 4 you fancy!

You're killing me here. I have the 4s and want android again!

Was aware Asus originally had plans to launch a tablet like this towards the start of the year, before Google got involved. Other than a MicroSD slot, it's perfect for my daily bus journey in which a 10" tablet would just be a bit too big to be comfortable if it gets crowded.

Put in an order for a 16GB one straight away, the specs for the price are just too good to turn down.

If I had never owned my S2 I would do the same, but a year of SAMOLED made watching tv shows on the PLS of my 7.0 Plus a horrible experience.

I know fully well that I paid a couple of hundred purely for SAMOLED HD, but I think it is worth it, more-so than an over-priced watch or some designer clothes.

I got the 3g version of the tablet and it is worth it.

The price of the nexus 7 tablet should help to reduce the price of all android tablets, at least i hope it does.

Any micro usb OTG cable will do - £2 off ebay.

The micro USB port might not be able to supply power, this is one way of reducing costs if USB OTG isn't part of the specs (like most HTC phones :()

Maybe it's a MHL port if they dropped the HDMI out? (Probably not, I guess they want to maximise Q sales)

Mmm, The Galaxy Nexus get 1411 in sunspider now, wonder if Krait powered phones will dip under 1200 to match WP8/IE10 performance? :D
