**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

I have whittled it down to the normal Pixel 2 and HTC 11+ if spending around £600 odd. The other contenders are the Nokia 8 or OP5T but camera is most important feature for me to capture moments with the kids when don't have the main camera and then for day to day be a good all rounder.

CPW have £50 off the Pixel 2 64Gb and I'm seriously tempted to upgrade from my Galaxy S6. How are non XL users finding the phone? Are the bezels really that bad?

I don't think so, although I think it's very much a personal preference.

I'm moving from a HTC One, and Yes, the bezels are bigger on the Pixel 2 than they are on the HTC, but not in a bad way for me. I actually prefer a phone to have them if I'm honest, but that might just be that those without them I find the phones to large for my liking.

Have only unboxed it and carried out the initial setup, but even in that short amount of time I'm very, very impressed by its screen. It also feels very quick and responsive, the phone generally, not the screen.

Now for a slightly, possibly, dumb arse question regarding my existing number...

I'm already with EE, SIM only and the Pixel is also on EE through CPW. To keep my existing number do I ask EE for the PAC and then make the request through EE providing them with the PAC they gave me?

Or is it CPW who need the PAC EE gave me?

Ha ha, love it.

I'm editing together a video comparison of last years to this years today. I'm actually a little concerned as while it looks great on it's own, side by side last years looks a little better? I think it's just an exposure thing though. The 2 seems slightly over exposed.

Spoiler alert. It doesn't look great on its own.

White point is too high
Black crush is severe
at slightly off angels the top of the screen is going blue on a already too blue of a white.

It is just as well that the camera is much better then the high standards that I was expecting.

The camera is very good. I can't also take my Fuji camera out so this does a good job of capturing things I don't want to otherwise miss.

Haven't taken too many pictures yet, but here is a snap from yesterday.

So, anyone use their P2 or XL in the car via BT and not have any meta data displaying from any music apps showing up? In the GF's 2013 Ibiza it shows nothing, not even the track name.

Any fixes? Have tried messing with the Bluetooth options in developer options to no avail. In fact, most of them seem to just revert back to default.
Are you running Oreo 8.0 or 8.1? Big bluetooth issues (particularly with in car audio) with 8.0 but 8.1 fixed them all (for me anyway). On 8.0 my bluetooth audio would work intermittently but had no metadata but it's all working fine now.

Don't you just put you're existing sim in your new phone (if it fits)?
If it doesn't you should have a new SIM from EE and instructions on how to activate it.

I don't think so, as the new contract is through CPW on EE, with new sim. Current/old phone, also on EE through EE is just a sim only contract.

So as I stands I've got two phone contracts, the sim only I need to cancel once my existing number is on my new phone. If it was two different providers then I just tell the new one of the PAC I get from the old one. Here however, they're both the same provider and I'm not 100% sure how to go about it

You will need to port your number to another provider e.g. GiffGaff and then port it back to EE. You can get a free sim from many providers via their site and nowadays porting in and out is much quicker. A family member had same issue last year and wasn't told this when taking out an EE contract via a third party.

Cheers for the image link. It looks good. My last camera phone was the LG G4 and it was woeful at snapping as it would take an age to focus and usually would miss the kids doing something. Just need the new snapper to work when out. Hearing lots of positive feedback that it literally is a snap and go camera and software just tips it in it's favour. The U11+ is a lot of hardware for £629 but the Pixel at £580 is proving to be a decent deal this week.

Out of curiosity what Fuji camera do you have?

Surely EE can sort that out as he's technically not left them? I'd at least try calling customer service.

Erm, I'm talking about the camera... it's a comparison of their video footage. :) Maybe 'video comparison' could have meant a few things, but I would have thought the talk of exposure would be a hint :)

**EDIT** Video is now up. I actually re-shot a few of the bits and they do seem a lot better today. I only wiped the lens... and it's not as bright a day today. Not sure what happened yesterday.

I have a Fuji X-E2S with a 35mm F2.0. Can't really compare, but for snaps the phone is really good. The double click power to launch the camera is very quick, and shots are taken in an instant. The only thing is depending on lighting, you may find movement is blurred a little.

Still on 8.0 for now, haven't got round to enrolling in the beta yet, and I wanted to make sure everything is good with the phone before I lose the chance to send it back if I wanted/need to. :)

For camera, Pixel 2 wins by far.
