I ordered mine on the 17th Dec and haven't had a code yet. Had completely forgotten about it tbh, but I guess I should start chasing it up as well

Unlucky. Didn't Google release some disclaimer about the white staining? I thought it was just an ass covering exercise and that it probably wouldn't do it! I saw somewhere that someone managed to take a chip off the paint on their white as well - forgive me if it was on here I just remember seeing it passing a few days ago.

yeah I chipped mine. Top left corner. Not very pleased with it but it's not a huge chip. As the phone is covered in plastic paint (mohs scale 3) it's not that difficult to scratch.

Loving the Pixel 2 XL so far, enjoying customising it all with Nova Prime & Tesla Unread, changing folder shapes / sizes etc! One thing I can't figure out, how can I stop google assistant launching when I pick up the phone and look at it? I only want it to come up if I specifically say 'ok google' ?

Are you enabling Google Assistant by squeezing the side of the phone when you pick it up?

Got my pixel 2 xl today, I'm coming from a Samsung S7. Amazed at how fast and smooth this thing runs.

I've installed Nova launcher and my usual apps and all is good so far.

Ordered a Spigen liquid crystal case which should be here tomorrow, i had the neo hybrid for my S7 but found it slippery.

The first thing I did was to turn off the ambient display so didn't really test with or without

you may find the always on screen actually saves you battery. i know i check my phone far far far less than i used to as more often than not it was to check for any notifications i may have missed, and the time. i just glance over and can see the time and that i'm still lonely and no one wants to get in touch with me. I also now notice how often others are turning on their phone just to check the time (perhaps i'm a boring person and they are counting until they can go), which i can only imagine keeps causing the phone to get into a more powerful mode, using more battery, where as mine can properly sleep and use a very low power mode for the screen.

Pretty much what I've found, the AOD has a minimal effect on battery, and, as you say, might actually save some in the process.

One thing I did discover today though, is if the phone gets too dirty, the AOD will shut off because it think its in a pocket (due to the dirt presumably covering the light sensor). Once I cleaned the phone it behaved normally. Incidentally, I find I also need to periodically clean the finger print reader too or it stops recognising my prints after a while.

So I think I'm about ready to RMA my 2XL. I mentioned over the weekend about the slow/non charging and I've now also noticed that the speakers are suffering from some distortion while playing music - and not even at 100% volume, on some music I notice it at around 50 or 60%. I did notice the distortion before but I'm sure it's got worse or maybe I'm just noticing it more as I'm looking for things to convince myself to get the RMA...

What are you doing with your phone that it gets that dirty?!?!? You know what, maybe I don't want to know...

TBH it doesn’t look that bad, in fact, I don’t notice any dirt on the fingerprint reader, more that it just stops working after a while until you clean it. Fingerprints probably account for the light sensor. But hey, feel free to use that mental image you have as pornography. :)

Not had to clean my fingerprint sensor once, or any other part of the phone.

You clearly have grubby paws :)

I think I do have quite 'oily' skin, my screens always seem to be dirtier than everyone elses, still though...

Google have acknowledged an issue with the fingerprint scanner and 8.1, its on the list to be fixed.

...could be that...

Hmm, not sure, as it just plain doesn't recognise my finger print at random. Doesn't happen very often so I'm not too bothered.
