**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Most of my battery has been eaten up by phone calls - spent 2 hours on the phone today already

That was the case last night! All in all finding I can go a whole day and not worry about charging. I only have one charger and cable that came with the P2 so chancing my luck until order some new usb-c cables and charger.

Right now I have 91% 4h50m since charge and 12m screen on. Just checked, chrome use 9m 4%, chrome seemingly chomps battery.

Give the Samsung browser a go. I heard good things about it and will be giving it a go over the weekend. Chrome is becoming bloated for phone and desktop. Even my Chromebook at times comes to a halt.

Samsung Browser is awesome. The adblock options are good too, although I find they sometimes block all images from certain news sites like The Mirror and Daily Mail at random.

This is an interesting development

Google recently began rolling out a slightly updated look to the contact list on the Duo video calling app. Alongside this fun rearrangement of pixels, there was also a very real, very significant change made: You can now call people that haven't installed or registered with Duo in the past. It works almost exactly like a normal Duo call, including the Knock-Knock feature.

So this has the potential for you popup a notification on another persons phone with a video. Seems like a good way to troll people if they at first don't get a choice and a video appears of "something" on their phone.

With limitations of course. For example, not for contacts with iPhones and certain Android (presumably early) phones. It suggests others to contact if you look at the Duo app.

I can see it now, people getting videos pop up of someone's "junk". Great way to troll, since the recipient has no way to stop this until they block the person.

I do not really see why anyone would do that.

First of all, the expanded use of Duo calls is relevant only to a part of your contact list that Google is suggesting you might want to initiate a Duo video call with, even though your contact has not formally downloaded the Duo app from the Play Store.

If it was your intention to troll people on your own contact list (which I do not understand why you would want to do that), you have had plenty of opportunity to troll them before a Duo call is placed.

So this charging carry on. I have highlighted on this forum already the slow charging that seems to be affecting a few people but is anyone experiencing incidents where the phone just isn't charging at all (for a few minutes anyway)?

I have had previous experiences with my 2XL but this morning is a case in point:
Plugged in at 64% and for almost 10 minutes it didn't charge at all, 11 minutes in charged 2% and in 22 minutes in charged a total of 3%
I then left it another while and eventually the charging did kick on a bit by charging a further 5% in 12 minutes.

This was all with the supplied charger although I have conducted these tests with other chargers and I am getting very similar results.

I have screenshots from Accubattery explaining all this in simpler terms but in a nutshell for the first 10 minutes it is charging at precisely 0%/hr and beyond this it went up to 9%/hr.

Is this worth getting on to Google?

My concern is if I return/RMA to Google (didn't buy it from them) I obviously have to wait until they've received it before anything happens but I also worry that knowing my luck they won't be able to replicate the issue and could end up costing me money?

After turning off ambient display, today I just noticed I'm on 2h43m with 48% left, it's been 14 hours since I took off charge. That is pretty damn good in my book. Properly liking the photos too, never had so many keepers.

Good to hear ambient display has made you happier. I wasn't fussed about that feature and would take extended battery any day.

Yup the camera is amazing. Went out for dinner and took a few snaps. Brilliant for moments like that where a proper camera is overkill. The place was dark yet portrait mode made them look decent.

When portrait mode kicks in does it use digital zoom?
