**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

The Pixel Slate that was leaked a few days ago is interesting me more than the pixel phone! My Xperia Z4 tablet is still used daily but seriously showing its age so this could well be the ideal replacement.

It certainly looks better than I was expecting (not saying much lol), albeit a bit 2016ish. Definately has my interest.
Personally, for day to day tasks Windows just doesn't cut it anymore. I need something fast, slick and heavily integrated. Hopefully google has some decent handoff features. If it does, and it's well under a grand inc the keyboard/cover I think I'll buy one. You never know, it may double up as one of those google home things like an echo show.

I'm on my laptop now and the only things I can see integrated within the OS from my phone is local photos and text messages (which i can only read, not delete).

Funny thinking about it, as three people in only the last two weeks have asked me to help move them off their laptops/pcs and onto tablets. They are all over 60 though. Damn, maybe I'm getting old....that, or I've just lost patience with seeing "windows is installing updates"

Going to be a very expensive month for me I think as the oneplus 5T will almost certainly be making way for the pixel 3.

Are these usually shipped very shortly after the announce event? Or are we talking several weeks time?
Last couple of relaseses have taken about 2-3 weeks to ship.

We should have it by the end of the month, a week after announcement at the earliest is my guess.

I know exactly what you mean, although I am prepared to be disappointed, again.

Currently on an iPad Pro 10.5. Lovely machine, but as someone largely entrenched in the google ecosystem, whilst I can use the apps, the experience is not what it could/should be. They ARE still a bit restricted too.

Then I look at Win10 2in1s and am tempted but I dislike Windows 10 enough for that alone to put me off, despite the fact I know it would be a powerful, flexible machine. Then there’s the price. No AAC or AptX bluetooth support, etc...

My last Android tab was a Pixel C. What a disappointment that was.

Who knows what I will end up with but I do have an eye on this slate, but I’m also prepared to be underwhelmed in such a way as only google seem to be able to manage, and will probably end up sticking with the iPad.

I've been a Nexus / Pixel user for many years now.

Love stock android etc but I'm really struggling to really want the new 3.

It just doesn't excite me, I'll probably end up getting it though :o

Mainly because there's nothing else, I don't know what I'm expecting really i think

Well you could always just stick with your current phone? :)

Not sure why people still feel the need to upgrade so frequently.

Indeed, and I used to be terrible for swapping phones. These days there seems little need to upgrade more than once every 2 years, the difference between generations is now barely worth bothering with.

I am the same. Had every Nexus and both pixel phones. I am likely to get one of the 3's but also not overly excited. I guess I will wait for Tuesday and see the full specs. See the camera and what bundles and prices it comes out at.

Certainly between this and a OPO 6T for me. I'll be coming from the 5T and it's been perfect bar the camera is sub par.

I'm in the same boat. Pixel 3 for me.

1. 5T still doesn't have android 9. I know with android anything under 12 months is considered fast but I want it on day of release god damn it!!
2. OP launcher doesn't have google now on swipe left which is crazy (dont want to install nova). Pixel launcher for me is fantastic
3. OP uses it's own calendar, clock, gallery, messages apps. They are ok, but they are not google (ie, no spotify on the clock). It's a little niggle, but still....a niggle
4. Camera
5. Always on display with music detection. This is a feature I really like
6. Wireless charging (probably wont use it much, but I do have a pad in the car)

On my 5T I have installed Azaidis rootless launcher from the playstore with his pixels icon pack. I've also grabbed the pixel 3 livewallpapers from xda. Just having everything built in on the pixel is just less hassle.
