I guess I must be in the minority here, but I'd much rather give up the stereo speakers if it meant smaller bezels. The size of the bezels on the Pixel devices has always been one of the biggest negatives for me and in an age of all-screen devices I think the Pixel phones look old fashioned.

I've just come back from the EE store. The shop assistant kindly unboxed both the regular and XL pixel 3 so I could have a play. Well......and remember this is my own personal opinion,

The regular pixel is head and shoulders above the XL. It feels so nice in the hand.

1. The notch is hideous. In real life I had hoped it wouldn't look as bad as it does, in actual fact it looks worse. Gallery, GMail, Maps all look stupid.
2. Despite the smaller model having a lower resolution panel and slightly lower DPI, it looks the better of the two. The screens are both stunning, but somehow the regular one looks better. Samsung good!
3. White is the better colour choice. It looks more premium. The black one, with having the black trim and black ports looks too much. It reminds me of the all black s8. kinda cheap in a way.
4. The rear feels good. Really good. Silky smooth...so nice.
5. The wide selfie camera is pretty good, but don't expect to take photos of large groups of people. It's wider, but not that wide.

Something I did notice, and I can't quite put my finger on it....but my oneplus 5T felt faster somehow. It was weird, but the 5T feels snappier...not that the pixel is slow, but something feels off.

Major point.....despite what google says on twitter the notch CAN'T be hidden. I spent 10mins going through all the settings.

This is very reassuring to read. I tried my local CPW at lunchtime but received a simple "nope" when I asked about demo units. *********. Will try EE tomorrow.

Yeah, quite surprised at how bad it looks. I'm not a fan of skins or cases so it could be another reason for me to stick with the 2XL.

Will be very interested to see what JerryRigEverything says in his inevitable durability video.

at £740+ mines living in a case. If there's a rear protector it's getting one of those as well.

In fact I'm thinking about the fog fabric case, a debrand skin and a screen protector lol

Bahahahahahahaha that's brilliant. Been scratching my head - why hasn't even my post made the thread appear. I'd made a really shiny Pixel 3 thread as well - it had stars and everything.

The loss of home and back buttons. Gesture navigation only.
A few software features that the 2 will probably get later anyway
A massive hole in your wallet

Ordered my usual trusty spigen rugged armour for the pixel 3. Need to find a good tempered glass now. My current phone is littered with scuffs and scratches from work. I want to look after this one better.
