**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

It’s just now and again. In general use it is still pretty good. I’ve noticed on rare occasions it just seems to slow down. Probably down to the speed of a Samsung :)
Mine does slow down on play store for some reason. In particular when you get a notification that there are app updates and you tap that notification, takes ages to open play store.

Mine quite often seems to be just after I wake the phone, and just for a few seconds. It reminds me of me getting out of bed.

That looks better to me.

Perfect

So close to pulling the trigger, managed to have a quick play with both phones in cpwh and o2 store (normal p3 was dead on cpwh). Quite a nice size difference compared to my p2, couldnt fondle too much in the fixed holders though.

Tempted!!

Bare cases just replied - official launch is in around a week! Excellent :)

EDIT: See here for example: #1147

great news. keep us updated

if the notch is consigned to Room 101 by next year the 3XL is going to be very difficult to sell 2nd hand.

i know the notch seems pointless, but compare the xl3 to the standard 3. i can't see how resell value would be better for the standard 3 then the xl3, as, after all, looking at the latest picture above it uses the space wisely and fits in perfectly. i can't see the notch going away next year, but perhaps shrinking to a much more friendly size.

with regards to the lag. it is definitely real.

just examples being chrome, can sometimes hang for a second, camera is often much slower than the instant, double click power button, click volume to take a photo all done in 2 seconds as it was when new. my phone is very light on apps, and i only have tool style apps in general, such as banking. no games what so ever. no ringtone stuff. nothing at all that shows ads. if i use an app like the underground. i uninstall the next day as i only need it 2/3 times a year max. i can't see it being a rouge app but instead just the phone not being zippy like on day one. perhaps they overclock the cpu on the first few weeks usage, and then bring it down to a realistic setting when people don't realise the speed any more

So it's fairly app dependent on hiding the notch. Hopefully just more and more apps update to hide it.

Good to see you can still squeeze for GA.

Hmm. General usage aside the behaviour on YouTube would drive me mad. Off centre and by the looks of actually a smaller picture than the 2XL.

If you're going to hide the notch I don't see the point in ordering the 3XL? How much screen estate are you actually gaining if you're removing the notch?

In the post I made a couple of days ago I did attempt to explain a little performance concern I had.

The pixel didn't quite feel as fast or fluid as my 5t. Couldn't quite put my finger on it though. I think OnePlus has heavily optimised the launcher which may be it? Or could it be that new security chip?

Isn't everything encrypted? Maybe that's what's slowing it up

For a mobile phone though surely 4gb is plenty

I/o ?

Or maybe a buggy app

Didn't a few review sites also say the pixel slate was laggy. I'm sure the two arent connected but still

Pixel 3 is using a new file system now. Performance bump right there.

not much. but that applies to all phones with notches. it achieves very little. i can hide the notifications with one tap and swipe if i really want to, but i gives nothing.

Does anyone really care about the extra tiny bit of screen? It's all about the camera, wireless charging, better speakers and screen qally.

Eyed one up in store today and compared to my 6P. Shame you can't actually test the phones properly die to them being heavily chastised, bit if a joke really given many phones selling points at the features you can't test such as the camera. The portrait mode on the front camera was pretty though.

Physically it's the same size as my 6P give or take a couple mm however the screen has much more real estate. Compared to the large upper and lower bezels on my 6P the notch is insignificant and doesn't particularly stick out as an issue despite not seeing the point myself.

I can't justify going from a £20 rolling 30 day SIM only to a £50-60 contact though. I'll wait for a price drop instead and likely purchase the phone outright. Not a huge upgrade over my 6P really imo however it's been in the wars and won't last till it's 3 year birthday I don't imagine.
