The official Gskill 4000 HZ overclocking thread

Some more good news here, the RAM likes really low voltage just done 10 hours of prime 95 @ 280 3-4-4-8 with only 2.5v

This has to be the best RAM I've ever had there might be more to come I can see my CPU will be the limiting factor.

I'm stuck between gettin some of this stuff or the 3200 zx gear.. what should I do? Its to go with an opty 146 CABNE..
from bits i've read recently i dont think it will make much difference which u get.

seen a few pieces whereby 260fsb at 8-3-3-3 seems to run as well as 220 6-3-3-2, appears to be due to a64's having the memory controllers on the cpu if i understand it correctly.

Just stuck 2GB of HZ in my rig and went straight for 245 (300 on a divider) at 8-3-3-3 and it seems stable (32mb super pi). Happy with that so far :)

Just Ordered a set of these to replace my 2GB Geil Value. At the moment im running them with my 4400 @ 10x multi, 240HTT on a 333Mhz divider. 2.5-3-3-7 1T

I would like to aim for around 2.6Ghz with the G.skill, Now without them here i cant think how im going to use them to overclock.

10x or 11x multi, what HTT and timings, whether to use a divider. Any ideas? I know it will depend on my system but would like to have an idea where to start.

Picked up some up earlier this morning, end result is it will do up to 270Mhz prime stable, although 275+ boots and runs spi 32mb it will eventually fall over in prime etc. However 270 is rock solid. Best timings I can get are 3-4-3-7, makes no difference to max mhz, and voltage appears to make no difference what so ever either.

so you got 270 mhz on stock timings? :)

Well stock timings are 3-4-4-8, it will do 270 @ is 3-4-3-7, unfortunately due to the lack of correct divider I have to use the 166 divider, leaving the memory at 255Mhz.

not bad for rock solid 24/7 use, with a 2gb kit anyway.

Got mine working and went for a lower latency setup. Its doing 234mhz 2.5-3-3-8 atm 312mhz HTT 3:4 and its not failed prime yet so it could go higher although the opteron starts to fall over at 2810mhz or so .

Not bad for £153 2gb set. Will try 5:6 see if it likes 260mhz @ cas 2.5.

Just went back to 628 bios from 704-2 see if I could get any more mhz out of her - no such luck :)

265mhz seems to be the max I can get in 1:1 with SPD timings - 0 errors in memtest. Any suggestions on what could I try to change to get a bit higher maybe?

Think not mate, I benched my sticks seperatley out of interest and one makes 275+ 3-4-3-7 while the other flakes out around 270. Shame :(

I have ordered 2 sets of these by mistake, whats the best and quickest way to test which is the better pair? missed the delivery today, should have them tomorrow.

google for the windows memtest mate. It found errors when I oc'd too far almost instantly, compared to memtest86, BF2 & prime which lasted 30 min+.

Hi, just got my HZ sticks in, TBH i am lost. To be running 1:1 these should be set at DDR500 on my Asus A8N sli premium or 266? (DDR500 + 200 HTT)?

I have took out my geil value an now i cant remember? I was running them on a 333divider with 240 HTT or at 400 with 200HTT both making 2.4ghz on my 4400.

I cant set to DDR500 though

any chance I could see your dram settings m8, screen shot of a64 tweaker would be cool! I remember chatting with you a while ago and you said the hz sets were a bit cack as you couldnt get them past 264mhz. I'd love to know what you did to get them past the 270mhz mark!!
Im stuck at 265mhz, hours of tweaking have got me no where.
