The official Gskill 4000 HZ overclocking thread

Well I sold my geil value 2 gig kit I just couldn't get past 2.5ghz on my opty.
Just didnt like the dividers.

So I sold the geil and got the gskill HZ and have never looked back 2.6ghz@1:1
I would ideally like 2.8ghz @1:1 but I dont reckon the ram will do 280mhz.

However I have not tried

Kimandsally got 280mhz out of his HZ on stock timings so I will push further when I get the time.

Got my stick at 260 1:1 stock timings, Speedfan's reading vdimm at 2.67v. The limit of my CPU isn't far passed 2.6GHz so looks like i'm staying at 260.

:)

I have a feeling this has been answered above but I'll ask just for clarification..

Does running your memory at a divider effect real world performance of your machine?

g-skill hz @ 300mhz 1/1 divider 30-45mins game stable (better than i expected) 2.71v

Very nice!

Looks like you got some good sticks! Now I would be interested if you can run 6-12 hours of Memtest and 6-12 hours of Prime95 *blend* while lobbing in the occasional 32MB Super-PI

I was close to ordering some of these HZ's but instead went for the Corsair 2GB DDR XMS4000PT TwinX (arriving tomorrow!).

Good work anyway!

P.S: Opteron @ 3GHz eh!

nice frequency m8, but your dram timings are very very slack! your memory bandwidth really suffers!
I’ve got my sticks running at only stock 250mhz but with the ram running all latencies as tight as I can get them and I get over 7000 in the sis mem bandwidth bench.

edit: heres a screeny of my ram at around stock mhz...

I swear if you ran that ram on a divider with 1t enabled and tighter timings from top to bottom you would have a faster system.

well heres,s my 24/7 settings with tighter timings

thats great :)

testing mine now with your "trp 3" setting but using 1:1 @ 275 with my 146 (not 3 gigable)

highest Ive tried so far is 275mhz @stock timings with 'xtreme systems A64 tweaker settings' and its BF2:SF stable

have you got an A64 tweaker shot?

Ok just order a set and will have a full set of results on my DFI Expert by next weekend.

Hope i get a good set :D

Finally had a go after pc was b0rked for 24h with an unseated video card bug :o

Ram @ 2.5v ;)

changing the TRC from 7 to 13 gave me more mhz and allowed the TRP to drop from 4 to 3 and be SuperPI stable :)

DFI Nf4 dr-expert @1/1 divider game stable ie:8 hours plus none stop
my g-skills are 06 s/n and will not run stable at 3 4 4 8 unless i run 2/3 divider so the mem runs @ 205mhzg-skill_hz @285mhz 1/1

Did you get yours from OCUK.....out of interest, what s/n's are people getting from here??

The first six numbers on mine are 060109, maybe a date? Anyway another thumbs up from me, went in to replace 2x512 G.Skill 4400LE, not quite as fast, but not bad.

Is that prime stable? My HZ doesnt seem to be stable at anything over 270 :( i was hoping run at 280 with my opty.

and what does changing the TRC do?? apart from the obvious...

I've got this memory coming to go on an A8N-SLI.
I plan to run HTT@250 with max mem at 400, ie 1:1.
Timings:1T 3 4 4 8
In the DRAM page these numbers refer to, tcl trcd trp and trc , below them there are further settings which I'm unfamiliar with :
row refresh cycle time
write recovery time
read to write delay
master ecc enable

should these 4 be set to auto ?
