Just an FYI; Rocksmith spun my head upside for the first few hours before I realised you could invert the tab on screen to match regular tab orientation.

Another tip (sort of!), if you want to actually hear what you really sound like playing you can get a splitter and have one output going to the game and one to a real Amp/Pedals and just mute/turn down the game volume.

This way you are still scoring/progressing in the game and can follow it but hear what you on your own sound like.

interesting thing for me, because I never used TAB before I learned to play Rocksmith with the mirror orientation (default) and now I can't flip it to TAB as my brain can't handle it. :(

Well got my Yamaha for birthday and started last night using https://www.justinguitar.com/

A and D chords last night - sore fingers today!! lol.:D:D

Will keep you all posted as I progress!
It's a life long journey by all accounts. I only started 12 or so months ago but I find it immensely enjoyable and rewarding. It can be tough and equally frustrating but when you manage to hit those chord changes or repeatedly nail those riffs its fantastic!

Have been playing a bit of RATM recently and, gosh, that Killing In The Name main / verse riff is quite tricky to get ‘sounding right’, tone wise and note wise - sure you can play the notes, but does it sound right? Got it down but it falls into that small subset of things to play which are tricker than the sum of their notes. It’s beefed up on the record by the additional bass guitar of course. Great riff, love it

On a related note, I watched a Joe Satriani “betcha can’t play this” and, whilst it’s certainly not his most challenging lick, it did amuse me to see everyone moaning how easy it was. Again, easy to play, difficult to sound good!

Again, on a Metallica tone video, someone said he could easily get a convincing black album tone out of his £100 practice amp and a DS1 - lul.

I'm pretty sure that Tom Morello uses a hell of a lot of gear to achieve his tone. Tim Commerford (the bassist) certainly does, some of which he keeps a very closely guarded secret. We've gigged Killing in the Name before. Very fun tune to play.

I've been learning a few Audioslave tracks as Tim Commerford is absolutely brilliant. He seems to have mastered the sound of complexity through simple playing.

Haha I know what you mean about complexity through simplicity. The chorus riff, for example, of Township Rebellion by Rage, is just about as simple as a guitar riff can get but it sounds absolutely huge - it’s outrageous!

Same goes for Bullet in the Head, bass-wise anyway. The song I keep coming back to, though, is Cochise by Audioslave. Man I love it, it's so simple but the way he plays makes it sound so complex.

From what I can see of their bass lines at least, they're sticking to very simple scales or cage patterns.

Just had the absolute bestest guitar session for 3 hours or so. The planets align, you hit great notes, the amp absolute screams and you rock out unashamedly in the lounge - yeah!!! That’s what it’s all about :D

Got some fun new pedals coming in the next few days so will report in with my views (because I’m sure you all care).

Just had some great 'music' related news.
I hire a room in a Town Hall for a ridiculously low amount of money but it is a bit small -

The owner of the Town Hall said he needs my room for a customer who needs an office so I need to move out soon.
He has offered me an old Court Room which is at least 8 times the size of our practice room which means we can set like a normal band, put the full PA in with a mixer positioned on the 'accused' pulpit :)
He thought he was punishing me so I've pulled a face.
