The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

As someone who has played M:tG since 1994, I'm actually finding this quite fun. It's very simplistic in comparison but that's perfect for an internet based game where you can blast through games in less than 10 minutes most of the time. Managed to fund 2 Arena runs off the basic training rewards and daily quest and went 7-3 then 9-2 meaning I was able to do 4 more before running out of gold. Had a couple of terrible arena's since trying out a few different classes I haven't really played but it all seems reasonably balanced. Occasionally, you'll just lose to random legendary but most of them can be dealt with by every class and some of the best cards are common and can easily be drafted. I've actually paid for a couple of arenas I was having so much fun, which I did not expect. When an entire Arena run costs less than half what a single booster of Magic: the Gathering does, it doesn't seem that expensive...

How much is arena? I think on TB's video it was like $1.95 USD, so maybe £1.49?

Looks like fun...I used to really like sealed deck tourneys in MtG, didn't get beat by people who had every single expensive card. Arena mode seems quite similar to that.

150 gold, or £1.49 for the Arena. Not bad if you don't scrub out 0-3 as you can get a good hour or two out of a good run. Certainly cheaper than going to the cinema :P

Just went 9-1 on the latest run I did.... straight after going 1-3 heh....

Got my key last night, after watching hours of vids its strange to finally be playing it but its awesome fun. Been playing unranked as a priest, won 4 lost 3.

Managed to drag out my last arena purchase for 5 run throughs so far with 150 gold still in the bank for another from the prizes. 25-5 playing as Warrior in Arena's so far and I feel I got very unlucky in the last game I lost to end 7-3 (Flamestrike off the top the turn before I killed my opponent). Definitely thinking it's my strongest arena character. On the flip side, I suck with the Hunter in Arena despite liking it for constructed. Just too many blowouts vs Mages and Warlocks and their 3+ dmg AoEs which pretty much always wipe my board!

I signed up for beta back in August and still don't have a key! I have the worst luck. Really enjoyed watching some of the popular youtubers play but after awhile I just want to get my mitts on it...

Even though I don't play WoW or D3 anymore I got an invite in the mail.

Don't think I will take them up on the offer though.

We have enabled real-money purchasing of card packs and Arena entry in the Hearthstone closed beta test. We did this to stress-test our purchasing system and get feedback on pack purchases in real-world conditions.

As a token of our thanks for helping us test the in-game store functionality, players purchasing one or more items through the in-game store will receive an exclusive Golden Legendary card for their collection.

Cash Cow ftw.
