The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

I've played on a mates account a few times and its good fun but I'd much rather have my own key. Plus he really wants to play against someone he knows :p

I wouldn't buy one (unless we're talking a few quid) because thats essentially wasting money I could've spent on card packs :p

Did anyone watch the Tournament at Blizzcon?

That final was so close. The first game pulled (I think) the 1 card in his deck that could've won the game before he was beaten, demonstrating the winningness of the RNG. That Priest game from Arkosis was basically won on turn 2 with the fully healed Injured Blademaster. There just wasn't anything Kripp could do about it.

Do you reckon you can play this without spending a penny i.e proper f2p and not p2w i.e ppl buying deck packs for better cards than the normal way i.e random luck and playing a lot?

Also nope, no key yet for me which im kinda bummed about.

I didn't see buying booster packs as pay to win. The boosters you buy are random. Just like buying magic boosters, you generally get a rare and the rest general. I didn't see any complete decks for sale, or specific cards.

You can convert your existing cards into dust, and use that to make new cards. Other wise, you have the same random chance to get cards from playing.

I'm loving the game so far, haven't spent a penny and still managing to win against stronger decks, got my first Legendary today, Ragnaros.

If anyone wants to add me feel free Chisuka#2390

It's apparently "open beta by the end of the month" so you still have a slight advantage on people.

Is that confirmed?

"He said the open beta will begin next month, but qualified that in case of a potential delay: Saying the open beta will begin in December could end up meaning January "in Blizzard speak"."

Quote from IGN. So basically it could be anytime in the next few months.

After convincing myself I wouldn't enjoy this because I got completely sick and tired of World of Warcraft stuff, I'm really enjoying it.

I am concerned about the payment structure though. People saying its not pay to win need to look at Scrolls. In Scrolls you essentially can't buy any cards with real money unless you purchase shards and are very very lucky that a card you want pops up on the stores 3 day cycle of 6 cards (anyone who knows this knows that you have no chance of getting the cards you want before you die). You have to play games to earn gold to buy packs or cards from other players.

It also feels a bit cynical not to have a way for players to trade/sell cards for ingame currency.

Arena also seems like a big money sink for anyone who likes the format but isn't winning a huge amount of games.

Other than that its a quick, fun to play lightly tactical CCG.

One key spare, who wants it?? Going for dinner so will check back in the thread around 6/6:30. Only folks that have expressed a previous desire for the game :)
