The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

Didnt think anyone would play the new mode tbh due to them losing their decks and having limited card options.

The new Standard mode will always remain fresh and competitive while Wild will just become more broken and imbalanced as time goes on. Without the change the restriction on design space and inevitable power creep would kill the game.

They are just mirroring the MtG model which is successful and proven in competitive play.

So what will players do when their cards wont be playable in play anymore. I mean wont they be peeved they worked hard to get them then think why bother anymore collecting cards if they only end up being relegated to not playable in the future.

Also i hope those that are from adv packs are ok as i paid for em i mean the adv playing was good but its the cards u mainly pay for not the enemies u fight in em.

wild mode baby

Yeah i know they can be used in wild mode which is why i wonder if your gona play for rank why collect cards when they will just be retired the next season afaik. Yes it keeps things new and interesting but soon as you have a good deck and worked ur nuts off to make it with new cards and then retirement phase comes in, your gona be like wtf. So i dont see the point. I know mtg done it and it worked well for them but as far as i can see they play very differently. mtg is more complex, hearthstone is rather more simplistic in its cards and gameplay.

And wild i dunno can you earn rank and get rewards like the new mode will be or not. If you can, how long till they start nerfing wild to force you to play the new mode instead?

I dont think id play the new mode id miss all the cards that make decks i have. Didnt think anyone would play the new mode tbh due to them losing their decks and having limited card options.

New players will play it - as someone who just started few weeks ago and have spent £££'s and still being unable to build 80% of decks because of how many cards there are I for one think it's a great idea.

Think year down the line from now - how is a new player supposed to start in a game which by then can have 1200 cards? You can't possibly catch up even if you play 10 hours a day.

Surely I'll lose about £100 worth of content I bought recently but in the end I'll finally be on a level ground with everyone else.

I'm finding that I've lost most games by about turn 3 or 4. Can't seem to beat heroes that are turning out loads of low cost cards and then buffing them. Case in point just played a murloc paladin and by turn 4 (or 5?) he had a 7/7 murloc and then the rest. And a lock who by turn 5 had a full side :/. Trying to play a priest control deck incidentally, just often get overrun in the early game.

You need Pyromancer with cheap spells or zombie chows for your early game or you won't stand much chance as priest. There was a fairly large meta shift recently towards midrange Zoo and priest does OK against it if you play it properly.

Meh dont any arcane dust to craft those. Never seem to have any dust :p.

Tho that makes me sound more hard done by than necessary....I have just crafted my first legendary :p.

You need early taunts (deathlords/senjin/belcher) and holy nova / lightbomb in your hand. Make sure you heal yourself rather than healing minions all the time - a warlock can charge combo up to 24dmg in one turn so count their POs (could come from Dark Peddlers too so up to 4).

I played self made zoo deck yesterday which got me from r18 to r11 and the biggest mistake I found priests are doing is worrying too much about minions on their board and forgetting about their own HP. It doesn't matter if you have 3-4 minions on the board vs 1 of mine if your hp is at 15-20 or less.

Also, always play your minions vs aggro even if they can die instantly, don't hold them in your hand waiting for better value (say holding cleric until you have damaged minions on board).

They are mirroring the MTG model with less cards and strategy.
Standard will be broken in a matter of weeks, then we will be left with 6 months until more cards hit.

The game is fundamentally flawed, and standard will only create a small distraction to that.
