The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

Was about to get sad at being purely medicore after only popping 3 legendaries after opening 90 packs (Mukla tyrant of the vale, Deathwing Dragon Lord and Twin Empoeror Vek'lor)...

...but then boom! Golden Xaril, Poisoned Mind! Whoop.

Now - Am I brave enough to craft a golden Yogg to go with it, and embrace total random end game delight?

Hmm.

I tried shaman for the first time last night, aggro shaman. How do you decide when to go to the face or when to clear the minions? I found that people i was facing kept getting board clear and then i couldnt get started again. Is it a case of attack face unless you can kill a minion without losing your own?

You pretty much always go face unless you have a really really good trade, like a 2/1 going into a 5/2 or whatever. You want them to do the trades in defense. If you fall behind on board and don't have them low enough that you can kill them in a few draws, you might as well concede.

I've been hearing great things (or terrible things, depending on your perspective) about aggro Shaman. Supposedly the 4 mana 7/7 just straight up wins games.

Ah, i possibly traded a little too much. Yeah the flame wreathed faceless....the few times i managed to get it out it seemed okay. Generally they just removed it the moment i put it down. The problem with all the tiny cards you have is that you cant deal with big mobs/taunts that people put down. Found myself praying for rockbiter/doomhammer combo :|

You running any earth shock? Usually you throw one in to help with big taunts, and yeah you don't want to trade much. They generally only have 30 life so if you can get them low enough, you can win the game outright through lava burst / doomhammer.

face is the place on most decks around at the moment.

not seen many control type decks.

im playing a cthun reno priest which ive made myself.

did well yesterday winning 4 in a row. not so good today though.

edit: 6 losses in a row now.

i love it when i have 8 cards in hand and yogg pull astral. great. thankyou very much

I see MAGE is now the OP class well done Blizz

spell spell spell spell spell spell spell LEGEND LEGEND LEGEND

Fireblast Fireblast PryoBlast

Taking a break from HS for a few weeks......

Havent come across many mages really, certainly not smashing out the spells at any rate. at rank 15 its all been rogue/priest.

I started at rank 17 expect to hit 20 today so far I'm 0-10 I'm just trying to get 7 standard wins. Seems like people have went back to playing basic zoo decks as the new cards are so complicated to play by the time you get the combos it's end game.

I think I'll run reno in every pack from now on just to survive or play taunts every turn but then i run up against freeze mages with their damned 8 spells

Me present Beginner's Guide to Smorconomics.

Is opponent dead?

No: me go face.

Yes: me already gone face.

It's a bit more complicated and depends on match up, what cards has your opponent used so far and what cards have you used (and what have you got left in your deck).

The basic principles however are:

1. trade if it makes you do more damage over time - ie. you have a 3/4minion and enemy has 3/3 or 2/3 - you can kill it and still do damage with it next turn or force them to clear it with spell.

2. go face and ignore board if you know you can push for lethal next turn or the turn after.

3. go face if you know they can't clear your board, ie. you have 2 minions + taunt, they have only 1 minion that can't kill the taunt and they have no AoE spells.

4. ignore board and go face if you know you can clear the board with spell same or next turn.

Basically, whatever makes you deal more damage over time unless you can go for lethal.
