The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

They're changing it so that it's like Dark Iron Dwarf, and HAS to be cast on a minion if one is on the board, so if there's only an enemy minion you have to cast it on the enemy if you want to play it.

It doesn't matter too much though, since it runs out at the end of your turn, they just wanted it to work the same way DID does so changed the wording/mechanic on it.

It also means that you can buff their minion to Death it, or to BGH it.

Oh I see, they removed the 'friendly' part. Just looked it up.

My opponent went 1 better with that combo. Played a Dark Iron Dwarf, buffed my Boulderfist up to 8 damage, I thought he'd messed up. Then he dropped a Big Game Hunter...

Then just to round it off, next turn he returns it to his hand with a Brewmaster and plays it again buffing his own minion ><

I honestly don't get the explanation behind Pyroblasts nerf. They nerfed it because they felt it was making Mages 'un-interactive' in that they only needed to do 10 damage to you, then double Pyroblast you and win. So they up its cost to 10 and leave its damage untouched?

"This is why we nerfed it, so what we're going to do is delay it by 2 turns but leave the reason we nerfed it still in effect".

The pyro nerf changes it quite a bit. A lot of the time people will win due to ice block proccing on turn 7 then they just pyro on turn 8 to win, or it'll proc on turn 8 after you pyro then you pyro again on turn 9 to win etc.

Now you have to survive 2 more turns, which means that you have to freeze/kill more minions, potentially having to use fireballs/frostbolts on minions instead of the hero or having to draw more freezes in order to stop lethal too early. You might even have to run more minions in order to try and keep some sort of board control in order to survive long enough.

It also stops pyro+ping and pyro+frostbolt meaning you potentially have to show the opponent that you have pyro (by frostbolt/pinging them when you wouldn't normally if you didn't have pyro in your hand) earlier tham you'd like, basically telling them that they should play that heal card sitting in their hand.

Obviously some games it won't change anything, and honestly imo they need to just change/remove Ice Block instead of nerfing all the other mage cards, but it does reduce the deck's effectiveness by quite a bit. As well as making it more interesting to play against as they'll have to actually do stuff more often than just the continuous freeze and ice block until they can pyro.

I understand that it means they'll have to survive 2 more turns but I don't see how the change they've made actually ties in to the reason they gave for making it.

To be frank even with cookie cutter builds on the best of classes you can still come undone when card order doesn't go your way.

I think your luck of winning is as good as playing roulette, I find Arena's the most frustrating as you then add in random class you might not have played and then random selection of cards where some players can get a large amount of crap cards or Legendries.

I had one hunter win with two King Crush cards and a priest with 4-5 Legendries. Both games I had none in the card pick. While I know Legendries aren't guaranteed win cards they are harder to kill or mitigate.

So much RNG in this game that it turns me off a lot at times, but the thrill of winning a hard match is so bitter sweet that its addictive.

In case any of you guys reading never received your Beta key, it looks like Blizzard have just activated all accounts who opted into the Beta automically, so you don't need a key. Just checked mine and I can download the client.

Time to see if this was worth the hype! :)

How do you get more cards for classes in this? I've got 20/20 for mage and I've noticed that there are still more class cards I don't have. So how do I go about obtaining these? Only played practice and casual play so far.

1. Buy packs
2. Make cards with dust
3. Win packs from Arena wins (1 pack and some dust is generally always given even for 0-3 wipe from it by you) Arena costs 150 gold, a pack of cards cost 100 gold.

Better to go with just buying packs for now though and not doing arena seeing as you've just started and you won't know which cards are good.

Still disagree. Either go in the arena even if you don't do very well or save it till you feel confident with it. You can make some decent decks using free cards. Buying card packs will probably not reward you with anything you actually wanted. Playing in the arena will give you a wide range of cards to choose from and put you up against a much bigger variety of cards (and opponents) too.

Well he is losing out on a free pack then every 3 games. Really don't see the point in that at all if hes just starting out because its obvious hes not going to do well or break even.

Oops sorry about the dust mistake. I'm not playing all that much ranked but i swear it's much more common to come up against murloc decks earlier now. Always gotta pack that hellfire.

Patch incoming with the following changes

The good news from a "fun perspective" I guess is no mage 20 dmg across turn 8/9, OTK warrior molten giants won't work, 2 turn kill alex warrior nerfed.

I think rogues & druids will do well with their easy removal early game and fast tempo decks. blood imp change was needed and still offers a fairly good buff on turn, player 2 turn 1 coin into 3/3 imp might be even stronger because on turn 2 if the first player puts down a 3/2 then player 2 can just ignore it knowing at the end of the turn it's 3/4 and they'd need to SSC / something else to remove etc...

Wow, some huge nerfs there. I think Warlock Murloc decks will still be strong however despite that blood imp change.

My Hunter deck just got an interesting buff.

When does the BETA finish? Anyone know?

There are at least 2 more patches before the end of closed beta. One balance change tonight and one incoming that fixes card overlap, dancing minions, etc. There's no official dates given but the current thinking is along the lines of

End of Closed Beta : Q1
End of Open Beta - Full Release : Q2
First Expansion : Q3-Q4
Phone and Tablet Releases : Q4

Correct, the Arena pool is made up of all the cards possible from your heros class pool + general minion pool.

Managed to get a double legendary (1 gold, 1 normal + 1 common gold) pack a few minutes ago, dusted Grommash instantly and I might do the same to Malygos - I just don't see +5 spell being useful all that often really :/

Conveniently missing out the rest of that quote where I said "or save the gold for later when you do". Nice.
