Right now, rush decks dominate the top 100 on all servers and Hunter is considered the weakest class

It is extremely dominant on all servers but it's not the weakest class. It was when the list you quote was formed but that's an old list and you can expect liquid to promote hunter at least a couple of places on their next power rank list.

I think you need to take a look at the meta builds to get a better idea. Right now, rush decks dominate the top 100 on all servers and Hunter is considered the weakest class. The UTH buff doesn't matter, the card's mechanics hold it back in the early game - which is when games are normally won/lost.

Article posted 5th Jan. The UTH change was recent, and has been the reason a majority of the ranked ladder seems to be riding on the hunter wave.

I agree, the article is out of date considering the OTK nature of UTH. It's not the weakest by a mile - it relies on a single trick but it's trick is stupidly strong and short of an argus or two, it's gg. Hell if you help them by flooding the board it can be over even earlier. I've only really had decent success with hyper aggro Rogue (with 2*6M taunts) and flood warlock if the opponent spends his explosive traps early. If people try to fill with freezing traps instead of mis-direct/explosive it's a bit easier but I expect everyone to have these in lower ranks.

Temped to purchase that 40 pack of booster packs. £34.99 which is like paying for just a regular game (really having fun with HS so I'd pay for this if it wasn't F2P)

Is it a bad decision?

Only thing keeping my finger off the trigger is paying the money, opening all those packs and getting nothing noteworthy, then having buyers remorse. Feel like I need to buy it though as I'm a relatively new beta player and I don't have cards to compete with veterans.

If you can afford it I think its perfectly legitimate, especially if you are just starting out with your card pool - the majority of the cards you get will be useful, there won't be many redundant ones.

When you have the majority of the card set its a different proposition, but in the beginning I think its fine.

Not if you like the game and can afford it just don't be under the impression £35 is going to put you in a position to compete with 'veterans'. It will take a combo of time and money. £35 is the minimum. It's taken me over 3 months playing everyday and money to get the card collection.

On average you should get 2 Legendary's and 7/8 Epics from a 40 booster but you have to assume they won't be the better ones for the most part unless you get lucky. I've only had 1 Legendary from a 40 before but some have had 3 for example.

Aha, yeah I'm not a mug. I'm not gonna expect to get to rank 1 on 40 packs. Just hoping to get past the rank 19-20 wall I seem to have hit where I'll win every other game (and lose mainly to expert cards and or legendaries)

Yeah 40 will fill out your Rares nicely and give you some usable epics. I haven't regretted spending money on the game at all. The game just carries on getting more interesting as your collection (and options) increase and once you have a grasp on how the meta evolves to counter itself the deck building becomes very strategic. The higher levels are still diverse enough in classes. They have done a great job with the balancing so far. I ******* love this game :)

bought 40 decks myself at the weekend, got 2 legendaries in the packs, not sure if they are decent or not?, got a Deathwing and Grommash. Also have the ETC from blizzcon

Was my first time purchasing decks so i only got about 300 dust from any duplicates, sadly i didnt get any of the cards i could really use atm like argus, pyromancer etc.

Ill prob go for another 40 pack at some stage, tbd i kinda enjoyed opening the packs :)

Most of my time im spending in arena atm as the ranked play really isnt appealing to me, maybe that will change once my skill improves at the moment.

I find that any shortcomings in my game can be compensated by the rng of arena drafts. Playing against people with prebuilt decks just sees me hitting a wall, the same people i have a decent chance of beating in arena.

Deathwing is fairly average due to battlecry I'd say but Grommash can be strong (and if you save an inner rage, hurts like hell). You get any good epics? Sometimes these open up different playstyles too like giants decks.

not sure whats a good epic really got the following epics from my packs

Aincent of War
Spellbender
Avenging Wrath
Shadowform
Preparation
Patient Assassin
Kidnapper
Barwl

and an epic hungry crab

Why buy packs then? :| seems a bit weird :p and isn't argus only 40 dust to make? I remember crafting mine

because the reason why ranked isnt appealing is because i dont have the range of cards required to make competitive decks :) with arena i can still earn new cards and gold with the rng to hopefully build better decks to succeed in ranked.

BTW for people interested the game is now in open beta in the US so good money is on it being released in europe tomorrow :)

I drafted a truly amazing Rogue deck yesterday in arena. Three SI:7's, two assasinates, three backstabs, two assassins blades, would have been total control.

But JK, I disconnect 3 games in a row and end 0-3. Figure server is having issues so wait a few hours, try arena again, also get Rogue again. Deck not as good this time sadly, but winnable. Winning first game, disconnect. 0-1.

Not sure if it's the beta having issues or just my connection -_-

I wish there was a timer like in SC2 or WC3.
