***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Having some problems with Splashtop. Flickery display on my Touchpad. PC connected to router by ethernet. Haven't played about with it much, but I added the splashtop folder to MS Security Essentials to no avail. The odd thing is, when I first fired it up it was fine - watched some iplayer no problem. Since then, flicker flicker flicker.

Did anyone else get one of these and already it has become a mantelpiece ornament??

Nope, use it all the time at home and work. It has our works catalogue and price list on there along with tv shows and music. I tend to use it at home more than the laptop unless I'm gaming as it's quicker to get going than waking the laptop up.

Usage can vary from day to day, but it never sits untouched for long - read comics, browse net from bed, check movie/weather regularly, browse PDFs (but convert to CBZ if necessary).

If the job demands it, I can see that it will be a must-have accessory for work/travel.

Also, kids play some Angry Birds on it, and I can whack some nice TV Shows etc. if required.

I use mine on average once or twice a day, which considering the money spent is pretty good value lol.

I bought splashtop for it as well and it's not bad, it's got a few quirks - 2 finger scrolling keeps zooming in, I'd settle for a disable zoom option, and if I set native res the touchpads screen goes all funny so it's not really any good as a 'presentation' device if your screen res is bigger than the touchpads....
I wish I could sort them out but other than that it's ok for 4 quid and hopefully they'll be fixed at some point in the future.

yep, splashtop isn't perfect but it is only the first release. After 2 or 3 patches it will be even better - but we need to give it time to mature :)

I used it most days when travelling. When at home, it sits on the side pretty much. Waiting for Android dual boot (or Windows 8 - lol). Gf sometimes uses it if she forgets to bring her laptop round.

At somepoint I need to make a decision, MBA, TouchPad, iPad 2 or all of them.

Using mine a lot while abroad. Browsing, music, news, weather, tv episodes and twitter all used frequently. Battery is great too.

No doubt I'll use it less at home, but still very useful.

I use mine everyday for browsing, iplayer and games on the bog, wife uses it for job hunting and facebook, daughter uses it for iplayer cbeebies and a colouring in app and angry birds, even my year old son uses it to play peekaboo (free dl) and loves it, when my nephews are round they are on it all the time playing games.

£ per hour, better vfm than laptop which was free but needed w7 and my PC

I'm not fussed about Android and now I'm wondering if I need my DHD at all

Splashtop only works with one display AFAIK. THere is some limitation or another with the Palm Enyo SDK at the moment.

do you mean just one the TP ? if it works on the TP but leaves the screen attached to laptop on then that us fine, I dont need laptop screen on

Nvm. Graphics card driver update sorted it.

+1 for Splashtop HD

It is great, the only issue I have with it though is the scrolling. Also the fact that my high res screens on my PC don't go back to default res when I stop using the TP.

As regards scrolling in Splashtop, it's a bit tricky. I find it does work but you have to do the gesture quite quickly (i.e. put two fingers on the screen and swipe up or down straight away, and then take fingers off screen). Not as intuitive and easy as it could and should be, I reckon.
