***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

1st rule of CyanogenMod is no ETA's!
We absolutely will not answer ETA questions. Why? Because we have no idea when we will be done. There are always going to be unforeseen obstacles which could take a very long time to workaround.

;)

Tbh I think I did the same when I first looked at it! They should have left the US one unattached.

Flight was good, flight before that was even better as we got free upgrade to Business class - so so much better than I thought it would be, actually was a little sad when we landed!

You do know it's not a US adapter that shipped with the Touchpad right? US is vertical prongs, not slanted / angled, so there's no point in taking it with you if travelling to the states

I can't remember what was on the end of it, it was Zaf who said it was a US plug on the end, just presumed he was correct. :p

Not been to the states so haven't used it, used the European one abroad though.

I still haven't worked out where it's for either, apparently some other far European countries and possibly AUS?

Just checked, the one fitted shipped is Japanese/US.

The similar one at an angle is Australian. I should remember really because I've had to use both in the past. :p

Edit: Just realised you were asking about the slanted one, yeah that's Australian. But my adaptor was definitely fitted with the US/Japanese one.

That's what I was told by a guy at work :p

Sorry couldn't resist :p

Splashtop is awesome! Hopefully tricked a few of you that didn't notice the keyboard button hehe

Eurgh, I really do hate windows8 and live tiles. I don't need all that information all the time. Even more pointless on a pc.
I don't just stare at my desktop all day getting information and never will I. I have two usefull widgets, system temp/usage and weather. If I need emails I load up outlook.
I don't want all my dodgey programmes and games in a cluttered constant view. I like a nice plain desktop.
It may be usefull for a tablet, but a desktop, and a proffesional desktop, no thank you!
I just don't get the fascination with throwing apps at us!

Anyway back to HP, asking again for an email address to chase up my replacement touchstone!

then stick with the normal desktop and let others who will find use use it

But by the sounds of it this does not happen, it leads straight to the metro screen on selecting the start button. And even then all "apps" (as the buzz word is no called) aren't going to be displayed along the task bar. And all the apps won't even appear in the start menu!

Anyway emailing the UK guy from HP since there's no customer services option, just technical support.

From what I've seen windows 8 has a 'start menu' which is basically the live tiles (stupid on a desktop if you ask me) but there are some programs out there that can revert it back to the windows 7 way (thankfully)

Thank you, someone agrees with me! Good on a tablet, bad on a desktop!
They also make it hard to turn the machine off! They're basically just trying to make it like a tablet or phone for a device that isn;t turned off.

Anyway email to HP managing director co******g about not being able to email customer services has been sent. I've complained that HP website is basically and endless loops aimed towards technical support with no customer support at all.
Grumpy man.

Nice it seems like Android is not far off according to quite a few people...

I'm a total Android noob, which version will be ported? Eclair? 2.4? All these cakes and numbers can get confusing... :o

And as far as I know, the newer the version the better?

2.3.5 Gingerbread and once 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is out that will be ported.
