***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

i used skype today, was brilliant, quite clear and amazing, best thing is, it's free, going to tell family in india/canada to get skype so its easier to stay in touch.

it doesnt work in android though, webOS only. there was no video at all in android, from sender or receiver.

i bought an anti glare one of ebay, whilst putting it on a bit of fluff got stuck to it, which made a bubble which was impossible to get rid of, ended up getting more fluff on it so decided to bin it.

it only cost me like £1.50 so i dont care.

the screen is made of gorilla glass, so as long as you buy a decent case for it, that should be enough anyway.

I got a pack of five protectors for about £7.

I've become reasonably skilled at applying screen protectors over the years but the first attempt was still very difficult with too many bubbles, the second attempt I managed to apply it without too many bubbles and it wasn't much trouble to push them out.

I also bought the poetic leather case, the version where can still swipe at the edges, it's a very nice fit and the stand works well.

In case might leave of. I've got a HTC desire HD and that screen is brilliant and touch wood no scratches so far without a protector.

The TP is only used in the house so might not be an issue.

The Skype is a bug at the moment, audio is clear but video is not working neither is the camera - can see but don't take pics for me at least.

Anyone reccommend some headphones for the TP,not looking to spend a lot but a reasonable amount so they dont fall apart and give good quality sound.

you haven't given a budget.

anyways HD25-1 II are amazing, i have a pair, make sure you get them and not an inferior model thinking they will be the same, i think their are a few versions. they are roughly £140. you can also get custom made ones for £180-£200 from "custom cans".

Thats the thing ive no idea what kind of price to look at, ideally id like to pay £10 but is that enough to get some quality sound or should i double it to £20. I was thinking of in the ear type ones,

I bought the touchpad from the MM a few days ago and I'm now starting to realise it's a very unfinished product lol.

I've had a few problems already, sound distortion requiring a reboot to fix, flash player works but will eventually stop loading streams on BBC website and again needs reboot to fix it, gmail and hotmail don't work properly in the browser, and no sound routed to bluetooth headset after it's paired.

I even tried the CM7 alpha 2 but it's a waste of time, it's nowhere near production ready (should be obvious from the alpha status yet I've read posts suggesting it was good enough to use).

Anyone using their touchpad without issues? :D

depends on your definition of quality, if you have never used good speakers/headphones them im sure a £30 pair will sound amazing.

you really need to be spending a minimum of £100 on headphones for quality and a minimum of £30 on IEM's.

Sennheiser is what i usually buy, but even their cheap ones are not that good, better than some but not amazing.

Any one recommend a good screen protector please.
The screen protector I got came as a 5 pack and after using it for a couple of days it's surprisingly good. It took two attempts, the first being more of a trial that I expected to go wrong. The cutouts for the camera and button are spot on too and although it's hard to align the holes perfectly, I managed it and am happy even though I didn't get it exactly centred on the camera hole.

The description for the ones I bought is:

FLASH SUPERSTORE HP TOUCHPAD TABLET SCREEN PROTECTOR 5-IN-1 PACK with MicroFibre cleaning cloth

I used a debit card covered with the microfibre cleaning cloth so as not to scratch the protector to push the bubbles out and it worked very well.

for under a tenner you simply can't go wrong. If your happy with the SQ why pay more.

the klipsch's look 100 times better, and they probably sound a lot better too.

the same headphone is £38.90 on one of the most popular retailers on the planet.

so its £10 off a pair of £40 headphones, well worth the £30 imo.

just look at the packaging it comes in, the tin, etc all oozes quality.

you can get a pair of sennheisers for £10 too, doesnt mean they are any good though.

the klipsch s4 is the bare minimum for decent SQ.

You haven't even heard the SQ of the ep630 yet your making a judgement on the SQ of them. OK.

It was simply a suggestion - and at a tenner anyone can afford to take the gamble and try them out. I use them with my walkman mp3 player and they sound very good. Simple as that.

Got my 'X' clear case and had some time to test OTR. Had to cut a hole with a craft knife for the power button as it was constantly being pressed. Might do the same for the audio rocker but it's a very rugged build and ofc the touchstone works without a problem. Clear case comes in handy when in public and people go 'nice ipad' and all you have to do is raise the back too see the HP logo.

i found this too, but i simply bent the case inside out, to stretch it out.

i was going to cut it, but its fine after turning it out.

i went for the black one, as i thought it looks better.

i actually have never spent more than £5 on a set of headphones so no i havent used good speakers/hphones but for under £10 its worth a punt
