***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Well, I've just joined the Touchpad owners club! I need to get a case now. I don't really fancy looking back through 91 pages of this thread so can anyone tell me what's a good case for it please?

after a case as well, ive bought a sleeve type thing for mine but want a case that would allow me to prop the TP up so i can watch videos etc oh and im after a car charger.

As the car chargher for my htc desire has the same connection on can i use that to charge the TP or would a micro usb cable and car charger be sufficient.

I tried search but "pre3 case" didn't bring up anything useful. What search phrase were you trying to show me?

Probably because this it's a Touchpad case I need. :o :o :o

Apologies for my brain fade. I forgot how useful the search is here. Some other forums just link you to the thread so you've got to wade through it all to find the right posts.

I got a 10% off voucher from Ebay for electricals so I can get a new touchpad for £153 from 3monkeys. VERY tempting!

I got the 32GB from them for £180 with the voucher.... Not for me but my aunt who keeps seeing me using mine which I was able to get during the firesale.

3.0.4 seems a bit of a disaster. Broken accelerometer, audio breaks after a while and the core management is a off. Sure it's snappier but I too have taken a bit hit on battery life with 3.0.4.

Roll on 3.0.5.

My audio sometimes goes a little bit odd on 3.0.4, the only way I can fix it is to completely shut it down and boot it up again which takes forever.

Are there any workarounds or am I gonna have to wait until 3.0.5?

Since going to 3.0.4 only problems I have had are:

Large flash files sometimes need a reboot before they will play (iplayer + bbc news articles)
Lines across the screen when browsing image heavy forum pages

Otherwise, kicks bottom :)

That's purely down to webos, cm7 boots very quickly.

I was suffering with the wifi problems on cm7, so much so i had to break out my old wrt54g and run that alongside my virgin superhub = no more problems. Strangely enough it fixed my wifi problems in cm7 as well.

Main problem I am finding with the 3.0.4 update is the battery life in standby time is a lot worse. Needing the charge the touchpad a lot more recently....

God dammit!

I am seriously contemplating rolling back to 3.0.4

Went to bed with the Battery at 95%. Left it on sleep. Woke up to it totally dead.

WHAT ON EARTH?! It's intermittent also, sometimes it does it, sometimes it's fine. Some suggested letting it die and recharging to re-set the calibration but this is the third time mine has completely died now.

Highly unimpressed. I am travelling with it next week and I cannot have it die in sleep this fast. Tempted to nuke it back to 3.0.2, do an upgrade from fresh then put my Patches back on.

I purchased one new the other day from eBay, 32 GB version for £207.98; I also got the Poetic(TM) leather case that doubles as a stand from Amazon for £19.99 and a Skinomi Screen and full body skin from eBay for £12.99.

I'm delighted with the HP Touchpad, hardware is excellent and the webOS is actually a pleasant surprise considering all the negative comments I have read about it. I did update the OS as soon as I took it out the box though.

The only thing that is really disappointing for me is the lack of upnp media sharing and media player that can actually handle AVI, MKV, etc. I have already purchased Kalemsoft from their website and it does work but it really bothers me that I have to install the Kalemsoft media server software to play media from my server.

I already have XBMC running and it has its own built-in server I don't understand why this device doesn't have a media player that can play straight from my current server. Surely a software developer would be rewarded handsomely for creating this software or am I missing something?

Overall a great device for the money and with ICS a possibility as well I think it has a long life ahead. :D

I've just installed Android on my HP TouchPad! :)

Some quick questions.

1. Somehow, this has synced with the same apps as my Orange San Francisco Android phone.
Does this download the phone versions of these apps or tablet versions of these apps?

2. What's the best launcher on this? I've used Go Launcher on my phone...

3. What's the best web browser on this? Miren was my choice on the phone but not sure if it's good in tablet form...

1. Phone as it's running a phone version of android.
2. Stock or go are pretty good, that said I use mine rather than stare at launchers.
3. Stock, opera is a reasonable stock alternative. Firefox is very handy to carry off from where you were on the desktop + you can use adblock but it doesn't support flash.

hi
ive got android installed on my touchpad and all was working fine but now for some reason internet works fine while im browsing using the browser but if i try going on the market or the ebay app they dont work with both coming up with the same error- no connection even though when im in the browser eveything works fine. anyone got any ideas to what it could be

If I get that problem (I frequently do), I disconnect wireless and reconnect.
This can be done speedily by adding the "Power Control" widget (long click on desktop). It adds wireless/bluetooth/airplane mode icons to the desktop, which can be clicked to instantly turn on/off those things.

Also, is your time set correctly? I may have imagined it, but setting correctly seemed to help me. It was hours out before for some reason.
