***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

I got my touchpad back again yesterday and guess what, the touchscreen now works but they have done something to the insides as the back flexes like crazy. Can hear it touching something inside and making a sort of sticking noise before peeling away.... Feels like a hollow point too....

Sending it back 3rd time!

There was a letter inside saying that they were unable to test the charging connector as I didn't provide the charger with the touchpad? Um like I sent it for that!

Going to write a nice email to their CEO on how crap their service has been.

Won't be buying another HP product again.

.

don't bother, the new cases are like that

I have already sent it away now, but the new case was already fitted on the refurbished unit, and it was not like that.... Only after it got sent back when they fixed the touchscreen was it doing that, so obviously they have done something to it to cause it.

HP replaced the cracked casing on mine and the new one has the hollow point and sticking/unsticking problem too.

What did HP support say when you explained these issues?

They just said send it back to us....

Got it back and yes that hollow point is still there with the sticky sound effect.... Wow what a joke.....

Going to sell it asap, although I hope they haven't scratched it as lots of dirty finger prints on it and residue but not had time to clean it yet..... Did switch it on after charging it up as it was completely dead and the touch screen does work unlike the 2nd time round.

I take it the "hollow point" is something that pops without provocation when on your lap or each time you pick it up? I'd imagine if that's the case then it's annoying.

Glad mine still hasn't cracked anywhere yet and it gets use every day so maybe my ballerina hands are the key to these :p

Basically it is not a sturdy point in the back of the case, it pushes in.....

When that happens it touches something and a sticky sound can be heard. Bit like ripping cellotape or a sticky pad off something.....

As the actual device is pretty heavy in the first place, leaning the device on your hand and placing it elsewhere could make that sound.

I might be ok with a case on but not really the point of having to compromise on a poor "new" design for the back cover.

Guys, i contacted HP, sent pics of the cracks and they said they will repair it under warranty.

Now i could barely hear the support chap on the line (and his english wasnt great too). If you guys could confirm that the following is correct.

1. HP support will send a courier in the next 7 days to pick up the touchpad (they could not give me a definite date)

2. I am to give the courier the touchpad in a padded envelope with a number starting S1-511XXXXXXXXXXXX etc written on the front (not to include any accessories or original box).

3. They will fix it and send it back in a few weeks.

4. I can track the status by calling them and quoting the above reference.

Does the above sound like the same process others are having to go through? Should i format the touchpad and reset it before giving it to them?

any help/advice on the above would be appreciated. :)

I've got a little crack beside the speaker too, was going to send it back but the warranty from the retailer expired on 24th Aug :(

Has anyone had success getting theirs repaired outside of warranty?

I'm not too concerned as mine is going to be up for sale any minute anyway..

Both times DHL came thinking I was boxing it myself.... They then provided me with the box and their print out to stick on the box and you get a receipt signed by them.....

You can track whats happening in terms of where its gone via dhl weblink that you should have been emailed.....

Also repairing your touchpad might not be the case, mine was replaced with a faulty refurbished one..... Sorry I can't remember the destination now but it definitely went past Austria to get there!

UPS came and picked it up while i was at work. luckily i had left my touchpad in a padded envelope for them and my dad handed it to them.

They left me a slip with the tracking code. :)
