Any way of forcing a restart or power off? Froze on me for a few minutes now it won't bring up the power menu no matter how long I hold the power button down.

For everyone reporting bad streaming, remember the Wifi connection is extremely locked down by default. Think the download rate is capped to something stupid like 64kb/s
This can be removed via a simple patch (see http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/293028-new-touchpad-heres-your-get-started-guide.html )

Check out "webos doctor". I think its supposed to be able to recover frpm bad flashes etc. Not used it myself though.

Yes you can fix that with webos doctor very easily.

This thing really needs a back button in the menus and things, such a pain having to close them and repeat your steps just to go back.

mine did this when i tried to flash it without a full battery, charge it to full and use webos doctor, it will fix it

click your device and choose webos doctor. Make sure your pad is FULLY CHARGED, and it will fix it for you. Also, don't plug in via a non-powered usb hub, plug in via a direct port ideally.

Thats what bricked in the first place, since i was at work i decided to do the webos download through my laptop. Now WebOS Doctor won't recognise the pad. HP said they can do a repair in 7-10 days so that will have to do i guess, still not in time for my holiday next week.

I keep seeing people call it a brick, do you refer to the ipad 1 as a brick too then? Yes it's no iPad 2, but it's not a "brick"

dont have the pad but on Pre you use swipe area and gesture from right to left is used as a 'back' option (?)

I think it's more in reference to its weight rather than the form factor.

really getting on well with the touchpad.... For £90. If i had spent 300 on it I wouldn't be too pleased. My wifenhas the eee transformer and it is head and shoulders above this. The touchpad is too heavy and is pretty much only good for email, browsing and picture viewing.

that said, its a superb piece of kit for the money paid, a true bargain.

In the post you quoted it shows it being only 10g heavier than an iPad 1 3G, or 1.3% heavier...

Well I can stream HD video, so it must be a lot faster. No patches done.

I'm comparing it to the current set of tablets and my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1:

I don't compare new with old. It is a brick in all respects.
