***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

It's a bit jerky on some of mine, seems to be dropping frames so I bought Kalem Player (£3.77) which is playing anything I chuck at it very smoothly.

Yea, i can confirm Kalem Player is very smooth and doesnt drop frames for .avi and .mpg like the others.

It plays VOBs but its all out of sync.

Edit--

I transcoded an MKV to vob using MKV2vob (which i use for my PS3) and the vob file worked on the device. Maybe it was a dodgy vob i tried before.

looks good, 'WebOS is a great operating system... and Android has some amazing apps... won't it be an amazing world when you can have both!'...

I don't really know much about android though, what are androids killer apps?

it just has tons more, I'm talking thousands. Plus a lot more seem to be free on android

WebOS is nice but there a few bugs/quirks that really should get ironed out, eg if I want to use the onscreen keyboard whilst the keyboard is connected, I have to physically press the keyboard button on the Bluetooth keyboard, or if I am not next to it, turn Bluetooth off, or the arrow keys not working much which is annoying, BBC pages reloading and the very odd occasion it seems to hang for a couple of seconds

great purchase for £110 (32gb) without a doubt though.

I was just reading an article on book readers for the Touchpad, however most, including the HP Reader don't seem to actually exist?

http://www.newebookreader.com/hp-touchpad-ebook-reader

Confused, the HP Reader looks like a winner, but the article states it is native to the Touchpad.

Where is this app?

Still on the hunt for a good ebook reader. Maybe we can all hassle aldiko to port their fantastic ebook reader to webos

You can do it on trains fine, just tether to your phone for the licence check.

Failing I'm sure someone regularly flying can afford to spend $5.99 (£3.77) for the full version of Kalem Player? I just bought it for that very reason, I'm flying somewhere next week.

1. Its £6 here!
2. Does it definitely get rid of the licence check? My parents are going on holiday next week and I need to sort out films for them. They won't be best pleased if they get on the plane and can't watch any films!

on the kalemsoft issue then, could someone kindly test please if BBC radio streams start working via tune in once you have kalemsoft installed?

edit may as well ignore me, BBC local radios aren't even listed in tune in :'(

I just play them from iPlayer but then the stupid screen switches off and the stream stops.

Just a heads up,

Even though I still haven't managed to get a touchpad yet!

If anyone is looking one of the keyboards they are reading in stock at comet £29.99 available for home deliver/store pickup

Guys...here's a question, now I know a lot of you obviously got this at the cheaper price but what would you be willing to pay for it?

I do want a tablet and have faith in the web community on this one and since they can be had for £199 would anyone say that it's worth that even considering the price they went at recently?

Worth the price we paid but definitely not worth the original price.

I'd pay £150 for a 16gb Wifi only.

I want a tablet that can play mkvs natively
