***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Thought I'd spend this evening trying to port Python to this thing, I want to eventually get Sabnzbd running on this badboy.

Getting there, not all the modules work though. Hoping its just a PATH problem.

Got a Touchstone station for mine from PCW for £29, had a discount voucher I got with my actual tablet from there.

What a great bit of kit (was £74.99 before too)! :D

does anyone know how you go about installing a media player for mkv's, i saw the link to the

also do the files have to be places in a Movie folder or in the root dir.?

Ive just got mine :D

Paid £89 for it, My friends all think im mental, some asked why I wanted a dead tablet that had been abandoned by its manufacturer, some asked why I didn't just spring the extra £50 for a Hanspree Tegra 2 unit, one asked if it came with any HD-DVD's.

I'd rather have a tablet with a good IPS screen that's responsive for £89 than one with a crappy TN panel, naff touchscreen and just as little support from the manufacturer for £149...

The Hannspree tablet isn't worth it when you can get one of these instead.

Went round to mates eariler this evening. He was rather smug as he strolled into purple land and just picked up a 16gb with the accessories. He's got the folio case and the touchstone. Amazingly, the TP still charges inside the case on the touchstone. However it's not the last word in build quality.

Stuck on this one. £55 for the pair I'm not sure it's worth it considering it's half the value of the TP.

Looks superb and works very well.

The backlight bleed is quite bad.

But in all fairness I might keep the 32GB the colours are similar to my Dell IPS panel - Sharp. I would be narked off if I paid a lot more for it but in all fairness still pleased.

Get the 32 fixed under warranty?
Hmmm would I be able to?

have you updated them both ?
Yes.

Please do share how! I got a 20% off cases voucher, but it sucks :(

Okay. I think I'm retarded.

It had auto dim (how apt) enabled.

:o

lol :D. In terms of warranty, HP are honouring the warranties basically because they have to so if you have a fault with your TouchPad then I am sure they will be legally obliged to sort it.

Can't believe this thing doesn't support avis's without paying for an app. What do they think people want to use these things for? Any free pay to do it without buying that app from the store?

Nice one thanks found the .ipk myself but couldn't work out how to install it as was just getting a MIME error. Still beyond believe that anyone can release an OS without AVI support.

Noticed there is a lot of talk on there about lag and slowdown, noticed that a lot myself so have updated the software version and will see how that goes.

What happens when W8 comes out?;)
Erm. You will be able to buy it? That is quite some time away however.

I think I know where you're trying to go but the fact remains these things are not on the same level as pc's or tablet pc's.

I have tried using keynote/numbers/pages on the iPad, it's rather painful.
