***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Finally took off the plastic wrapping (I've had mine since the firesale). It's shiny!

Bought one of the £1 cases from Poundland today, they are great. Taking it outside for the first time tomorrow, I bet I misplace it or break it.

ICS is designed to be used with tablets & phones.

is it!? :S sounds weird! What I really meant is that I don't see a great deal of point in Frozen yoghurt or Gingy for a nice big tablet, I suppose a much bigger app store is one though. When ICS is released, do you predict it will almost instantaneously be made available for the TP?

Hope dual boot is possible though as I do like WebOS

ICS is supposed to be open source, but it could be 6 months for that to happen, even then, could be a couple months for the port to get done if not longer

amigafan2003 has a secret side project on the go :P I'm not sure why anybody would bother with Honeycomb, sure you could find a related image for similar hardware and try to mod that but then when ICS comes around you will still be tied to that image, I guess if you weren't bothered by a clear upgrade path (which thinking about it, isn't an issue with the touchpad) it is doable but the route CM are taking by going with GB is so they won't have to mess around when ICS is released.

oh. I thought I was watching a video of someone having almost managed it on Youtube the other day. Well that's a bummer, I don't see a reason to try one of the non-tablet Android versions on it

Try using a HTC Flyer or something. Gingerbread works really well on a tablet.

Really not liking spaz hd as my twitter app :( used it properly in anger and found it far too slow and in need of manual updating too much. Any ideas for alternatives

I see Argos are selling the official case for half price at £20. Worth it or can I get it cheaper elsewhere?

Never mind, out of stock anyways.

Can someone recommend a cheap case for this that can fold into a decent stand on my desk? I'm not too bothered about the protection as it will either be on my desk standing or in my bag to work (ie. never take it out in public). The TP is already heavy enough itself as it is!

Incredible! ? Although it is lacking some serious functionality. It is early days, I reckon that in a few weeks we should be ok. I personally like Spaz but got to admit it is lacking a few things plus perf can be a pain.

Not a stand, but Poundland sell neoprene cases for (you guessed it) a pound. They fit perfectly, and are perfect for transporting your Touchpad around whilst it's in a bag. For a pound, you can't really complain.
