Just replaced my 10 with a 5T because of this, got to the point that 20% battery which was no problem to reach each day was basically rolling the dice on anywhere between 5 and 0%. I've factory reset it and installed Oreo but haven't tested it as im using the 5T. Will be a draw phone now.

It's all a bit Reddish...
I have an HTC 10 as my second phone and the battery is awful now. In fact it gets to about 10% then starts to bootloop. Anyone else get this? I may factory reset it and install Oreo and see how that goes.

Edit: Seems I'm not the only one https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/random-shut-boot-loops-t3690547

Mine does this regularly and on occasion from >35% battery too.

Reading a few threads it looks like it is just the condition/age of the battery and folks have had success with having this replaced.

I logged a ticket with HTC seeing as the phone has 2 year warranty and this was their response:

1-If you can access your phone, please check if you have any software update available to install on your phone.

-From the Home page go to Settings-About-Software updates-make sure Schedule check option is selected-then press Check now.

-Please be sure to install the upgrade with a stable Wi-Fi or 3G connection and it is recommended to back up your personal data first.

2-Use battery test to make sure battery is in good shape. Dial on your device *#*#3424#*#* > Accept > More > Battery test > follow the instructions.

3-Go to Settings-Battery> Battery Info, and check the applications that use the battery the most and turn them off.

-Cut down on Internet usage if possible, or turn Wi-Fi off during sleep if necessary/ don’t use Best performance (Settings> Wi-Fi> Menu> Advanced/ Best Wi-Fi performance)

-Make sure you turn the “Power Saver” on.

4-If the problem still exists, we may need to try the phone on the Safe mode:

-Press and hold on the power button> press and hold on "power off"> chose restart in safe mode.

-The purpose of safe mode is to boot your phone without any installed 3rd party applications.

-All original default functions still be available in safe mode, and all the changes done in safe mode will be reflected when you reboot in normal mode.

-This will allow you to determine whether a third party application has caused the symptoms you are seeing.

-If you followed these steps and the issue is resolved, it means that you have downloaded 3rd party application downloaded from the internet which conflicts with you device OS.

-Please remove it from: Settings>apps> downloaded >click on the applications and uninstall them.

-To exit safe mode please restart your phone normally.

5-If you are still experiencing issued with the battery life, we recommend to perform a factory reset to try resolving it, but please make sure to backup your data first as this step will

delete all the info from your phone, to know more about the ways to backup, please visit the below link:

-To reset your phone, please go to Settings-Backup and reset-Reset all phone.

The battery test from point 2 looked OK (85% after the test IIRC) but given my contract runs out in May I don't know if i can be fussed with the trouble of a full factory reset with the prospect of a new phone around the corner.

Does anyone have a copy of the default wallpapers? When I updated to Oreo, the default was quite a nice dark red geometric thing. Just done another factory reset (something was keeping the notification light flashing all the time, couldn't find out what even after uninstalling all apps) and the new default is the same design but in a different colour, no sign of the red one I liked :( The one I have now is what's on the top row of this: https://tinyurl.com/ydxxb6qv

I'm thinking of buying the HTC 10 Evo for £109. It would just be a cheap personal phone to carry alongside my work iPhone. I made the mistake of only have a work phone, now I don't like the fatc I've registered my work phone to all of my personal account/doctors etc.

I've seen some battery issues but I'm guessing that's through use of the past 2 years? Would you say it was worth it for £109, seems too cheap to turn down for what was a £5-600 phone a couple years ago.

U12 looks pretty nice to me, top bezel isn't that much bigger than my S9+ but the bottom is slightly bit still nice looking, I just wish they would go back to the aluminium of the U10 felt so much nicer although I appreciate it marks easier than the plastic/ glass
