*** The official HTC One S thread ***

I can get roughly 3 hours of screen on time in a 48 hour period. After that, the battery is flat. I think that's fairly reasonable, not awesome, but good. I'd say my average usage is similar to yours.

The One S is a great phone, but since the iPhone 4 was released I'd been waiting for a giant version of that fantastic screen and the One X has it. I think that even after the Galaxy S III release, I'll still be on the One X due to that.

Famous last words though, I'm a bit weak at the knees when it comes to resisting buying a new phone (:p). No doubt the camera will be better, but I don't take many pictures so I should try and avoid getting it.

I love the HDR effect on these phones too, it makes outdoor pictures look absolutely awesome.

Yeah like you say it sounds like we use our phones a similar amount and if you can get 48 hours with that usage then that is by FAR better than my current 9900 and more than suitable for what I want

Yeah you seem to have every phone that comes out?! :O lol :p

I think I'm gonna stick with the One X now that you've confirmed how much you get from the battery and that sounds fine for me, like I said even if it lasts longer than 24 hours then that's fine, but if it gets almost 48 like you say then that's even better :D

Thanks for all your help :D

No problem :)

Lol :D

I am talking about the One XL :p :D

http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_xl-4572.php

It pretty much combines the best of the X and S, however, I am not sure when it is coming out here or if it is even being released here.......

Oooooohhhhhhh :D I haven't actually and still can't actually see that on the HTC website that's why I was confused lol

I didn't see that in the O2 shop yesterday either so I think I will probably stick with the One X though as like Robbo just confirmed for me that the battery is fine for what I want, and the phone itself is already out

Once again, thanks for you help both of you :D

Indeed, those screenshots I linked you in the X thread earlier are over 46 hours and that was with 2 and a half hours screen time on my first or second charge (it does sometimes improve a bit after a few cycles). I'd also taken a lot of pictures and a good bit of HD video as well - all of that gives the battery a hammering too.

Not every one, but I've bought too many really recently. I'm hoping to stick with the One X until the new iPhone which I may get depending on how good a job Apple do of it. Creating a phone (and advancing iOS) to take everything to the next level isn't going to be easy for them. It will be a huge test of their innovative ability.

I don't think the XL is coming out over here at all, so it's not a consideration for us (thank god!). :p

Alright then, this is going to sound really stupid, but what is screen on time/screen time? Just how long the backlight has been on for?

Lol, fair enough :P I just don't like iPhones as I think they're too expensive for what they are, and too many people have them, I like to have something that not many people I know have :D

I'm glad you've said that lol, would just confuse me even more by adding another option to my choices :p

Not hitting the 5 hours mark any more :( (however, I have been doing heavy browsing with quite a few more games.......)

Most I get is about 4 hours and 30 mins and average is around 3 hours 45 min to 4 hours for on screen time.

I will try to get a few more screen shots of battery life up soon, but I need to get this review of the case done first :)

WOW! My case mate tough arrived today.....fastest delivery I have ever had lol.

First impressions are very good!

Although I didn't receive a case mate screen protector with it :(

Me too. Came from same place as yours. Ordered Sunday, arrived today .... nearly as fast as Overclockers :D

Fits very well. Hard outer shell feels like it'll stay in place and not 'rub' out of line in your pocket. Does slightly bulk up the phone as you would expect. Does make the slim little devil feel a little less slippery in the hand - phone that is . Only improvement I would suggest would be built in usb and audio plugs to keep pocket dust out of respective holes. I appreciate that could be a pain  No case mate screen protector either. No matter I have a M Fields one on order but a horrible HTC one on for now as the glass WILL scratch. I have two 'fine' scratches on the glass within 2 days use.

Nexus18 - Any chance you could test a phonebook/dialer app for me on the One S.

It stutters a bit on my SGS2 - would like to see how it runs on the one s.

It stutters when scrolling slowly through the contact list and phonelog.

exDialer ICS Theme

Sure :)

Will try it out in a few minutes and report back.

haha yeah, ocuk takes 2 days for me :(

I could not be assed with covers for the USB port etc. :p Too much hassle involved then! :p

Also, I noticed this when taking photos etc. does yours have a hole for the microphone on the bottom of the phone? Mine doesn't! :(

Kona that app combined with the theme works perfectly smooth and lightning quick on my S. I didn't change any settings at all, just changed the theme to ICS.

I couldn't test it out on the call log as I cleared my call log earlier on, but the scrolling through the contacts slowly and quickly appeared stutter free and switching from keypad to all contacts was done instantly.

Didn't notice that. Have you tried making a call cos I presume that covering the mike like that is going to somewhat muffle the conversation??? Somebody has possibly cocked up

Does this mean we now have to get scalpel and very small drill out?

Yeah I tried before and after putting the case on, I was told that I sounded fine but not as quite clear or loud with the case off and I also tried another mobile to hear what it was like for myself and I would say the same as well , quite hard to tell the difference though, so not a massive issue but still, I am pretty sure that there should be a hole there.......

Up to you, give it a test with the case off and on and see what the difference is like for you.

I will probably cut a hole there as well. Looking at the tools to see what the best way of doing it is, either a stanley knife, proper puncher (for shoe laces), puncher tool kit (have a certain size of points and stretch the rubber on a bit of wood and give a firm hit on the head with a hammer to cut the piece of siliconeout ) or possibly the drill...........

Cool thanks for testing. Strange it micro stutters on the s2. Does it in the stock phonebook too.

No problem :)

Stock sense dialler is the same as well, super smooth and super quick.

Was it like that before with your GS 2 on 2.3?

The only place I have seen any form of lag/micro stutter (and even then it is very rare) on the one S is the tabs interface for browsing.

I had a chance to play with the black version and after reading the reports about the chipping, although I'm sure it won't happen with all and I could exchange it instore, it got me thinking more about its 'ceramic' feeling. To be honest, I didn't really like it and felt like it could slip out of my hand. It was like a flat frying pan lol.

Haven't played with a grey one yet, but from what I can see in pictures, it has more of a plastic matte finish? For me, that feels more durable. The One X is too big for my hands, and the One V is too low powered and missing top HTC Sense features. Also I'm guessing the battery should be better due to its smaller screen and having only dual core?
