*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Nexus, finally! Congratulations Mate! Maybe it's HTC's Christmas present to all HOS owners!

Let us all know how JB is running on the HOS, I'm sure it'll be a fluid and superb experience! :)

It is a damn nice xmas present! :D

CBA to install, too busy finding some dancing gifs.

This'll do!

Lol! :D

Only had a quick play and so far:

- definitely more snappier and smoother especially when scrolling in the menus and the screen just feels more responsive to your touch
- very nice improvements in the UI throughout, however, the battery usage chart is xxxxxxxxxx awful! Going to have to get a third party app installed now

Haven't had time to properly play with it yet but so far it is very good.

Might do a factory reset now as I haven't done one since I got the phone pretty much.

That sounds excellent Mate!

JB has made an already great phone even better! :)

What third party app are you going to install for the battery usage? Is the chart on a white background on Sense 4+ hence why you don't like it?

Nope, the battery chart has always been on a white background :p They have changed the layout, but when you actually see it on the screen, it looks stupid and doesn't use the entire screen up, only half, so you have half of the screen with just a blank space

I thought it looked rather nice from seeing shots from the X etc.

Here you go:

Oh and also no way of seeing on screen time

Not sure what app I will install yet stoosh, there was one, which looked rather good and displayed screen on time so trying to find it at the minute, think XDA wrote an article on it a few weeks ago.....

Stop looking at battery use charts, it drains your battery.:p

Don't forget about Playstation Mobile and a free copy of Lemmings.

It is a hobby of mine though! :p :o

Cheers for the heads up on the PSM! :)

Yup!

And the usage chart looks like this:

I don't mind them, think they are fine personally and on the whole look a bit better....not completely sure yet...... but I did prefer having everything under the one sub-menu.

EDIT:

Also one annoying thing is not being able to turn off the power notification saver option in the notification tray.......

Not the end of the world but as say very annoying when it wasn't broke to begin with.

Yeah, the main thing I just can't believe is that they excluded the screen on time, like seriously WTF?!?!

LEMMINGS?!?!?! OMG HURRY UP HTC

What CID number is your device?

CID getter on the market to find out.

Don't know if I cba doing a factory reset :p Will leave it for now and see how things go.

Thanks for posting the pic re the battery stats Nexus.

Oh dear I see what you mean, it does look abit messy and "rushed"

It's feels so long since I had a HOS that I forgot what the battery stats page looked like!

The other pictures that you have posted actually look very good, the JB update seems to have added value to the HOS.

Here's a quick review.

General performance: No change, CPU/GPU performance are identical (same benchmark scores)
UI performance: Minimal change, mine was always as smooth and snappier than the N7, maybe it's a bit more consistent?
Wireless performance: Unknown but seems about the same. :(
Multitasking: No change, the usual frequent reloads. (N7 uses ~150MB less RAM for the same setup)
Camera: No change in performance or quality from my pre/post test, maybe slightly better focus speed?
Google Now: Hurray! (no long press home animation?)
Power save feature: Downclocks CPU to ~1GHz (GPU performance is identical, even at 1GHz) turns on auto brightness and turns off vibration/data with screen off. Utterly pointless and can't get rid of the notification crap.
Bloat: Even more apps that can't be disabled, friendface etc! (On the plus side you can disable Locations now)
Battery use chart is a huge downgrade.

Stock Android is far superior these days.

Am i right in thinking that htc have disabled google now on the lockscreen?

Also thanks sarge, i didnt know you could hold home to open it. I would have never found that out :D

Now im on jellybean, should i not be using quick ics browser? :p i disabled chrome straight away.. Yuck!
