*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Still no sign of the X+ battery, however, the next best thing?

Its essentially an HTC One XS battery that has 2000mAh. Not as much as the HTC One X+ battery but definately much more than stock HTC One S. The One XS seems to be geared for the Chinese market and has the option for two SIM cards.

I risked it and purchased the battery and it fit fine, exactly like the HTC One X battery. I have booted up my phone and everything seems to be working great.

In either situation you just have to be bold enough to open your HTC One S to get at the battery. Follow Youtube instructions, get a few case opener tools, and you should be good to go.

Will wait for more people to get one first :p

I am still on stock Sense V4+ jellybean :)

Thinking of rooting and flashing though, still don't know yet :p

Thanks, had a look at that ROM, although isn't it based on stock android? I would probably stick to sense based purely for the camera quality and features.

It's good to stick with what you know! :D

Yes it's based on stock android but does look very good, although reading the article there are a few issues with the camera and lag when scrolling through the home screens.

Indeed! :D

I really just want a stock android theme throughout :p and better battery life is always a nice bonus. Just hate how much more complicated the root and flash process is for htc devices :( If it was a Samsung device, I be done in 10 minutes :p :(

Supposedly the jellybam one is very good (based on stock android)

I like the stock android look that's why I have the JB Dom theme on my S3 LTE. When I go from my S3 to N4 it feels natural look wise if you know what I mean. :D

HTC are going the other way with Devs.....they've locked their bootloaders shut down sites that host HTC RUU's and made rooting their devices really difficult to do.

Samsung on the other hand have made things really easy for their users. I'm really dreading moving from the S3 to the Xperia Z.

It's been a joy rooting and flashing custom ROMS on the S3

I just wish these oem's would add the features that they want but keep the stock android theme and layout rather than completely changing/ruining it :( I am happy with sense, but don't like the white backgrounds.

Motorola have got it spot on when it comes to oem skins now, add features they want but keep the layout and theme of stock android  Damn you Motorola for not giving a **** about the UK!!!!

Yup, it has certainly made me think twice about HTC devices now! I am happy with stock and could quite happily stay on it till my next phone, however, I would like the choice of being able to root and flash things easily without having to worry about bricking the phone etc.

Personally I would just wait for the next lot of phones, the M7 or xperia Z, ZL. Only reason to go for a nexus 4 now is if you really want a stock android nexus device and/or don't want to spend a lot of money.

IMO the nexus 4 is a side grade coming from the S, but it all comes down to what you value more in the end. If you sold the one S for quite a bit i.e. over £200 then it could be a good move getting a nexus 4 for the time being (will hold its value better)

If you don't mind me asking how much did you get for your one S and where from?

so the battery listed above will be a worth while upgrade? as im a real heavy user and already have a power skin. But any gain would be worth it for me.

sold it on another forum for a lot less than 200

but i had itchy phone trigger syndrome lol

need to grab a stop gap phone in the meantime thats not too shabby an experience

maybe an s3 with a custom rom - they seem to be the easiest to flash and return to stock

want something with a high res screen

dont mind a refurb or second hand

I would say that it would be a pretty good upgrade, maybe get an extra hour+ on screen time?

The guy said he will report back in a few days time as he wants the battery to settle and to see how it fares across a few days etc. so will post an update when he does :)

Could be waiting for another 2-3 months for the X+ battery! So I am very tempted to get one but want other people to go first :p

Yeah unfortunately the value of one S is stupidly low :( Although it might pick up a bit as the contract and sim free prices have gone up considerably due to low stock most likely.

If you want something that is easy to root and flash custom ROMs then the nexus and Samsung devices are definitely the best for that! In fact, the nexus 4 might be the best for you due to the developing community, ROMs are usually much better optimised and very rarely have any bugs.

On Samsungs - custom roms are normally buggy if they are ASOP/CM10 based.

Samsung based custom ROM's are great and stable as they just literally tweak/debloat/theme the stock ROM.

250 downwards is a bit tough to decide what to get new or second hand

Nexus you got any other recommendations apart from RAZR I s2 HTC one s

Is there anything else round about that price with a half decent resolution

Not much choice for around that price really (if you want 720P res.), maybe second hand though...

HTC one XL
Go through the hassle of importing a RAZR HD
GS 3
Xperia T
galaxy nexus

For the money, you really can't beat the nexus 4.

cheers for the input looks like im back on a nexus 4

managed to pick one up second hand

got quite used to having 16gb with the htc one s so not having an sd slot is not the end of the world

in the end it was a toss up between the n4 and s3

htc and the locked bootloaders did get on my **** a bit

Having a look at your screen grabs with the new ROM I certainly agree with you and don't like the white backgrounds either. It makes it look cheap if you know what I mean.

I don't know why Motorola treat consumers in the UK like second class citizens, as there's quite a few of us who would buy a Moto phone in a heartbeat however we are mindful of the customer support that Moto provide therefore we stay clear of their phones.

Will you be getting the M7 when it's released?
