*** The official HTC One S thread ***

I have to be honest, the S3 pictures look a lot better to me.

Which is odd because compared to the One X when the S3 was first released they didn't look much different, certainly not better, so perhaps that update has done something?

What?! How did that happen? :p

does your stat's always reset after a reboot?

Yeah the S3 shots look excellent - do you remember those rogue pictures before the S3 launch? :D

I very rarely reboot and when I do I don't check my battery stuff but I am pretty sure the last few times I did check, they were reset.

I will reboot soon and see what happens.

Thanks for the explanation guys. Oh dear, any way to tell whether the phone is an S3/S4 model by looking at it? :p

Ah right, cheers. I'm a bit of a noob to 3rd-party stuff, how does it work? Do you pay your direct debit etc. to them for the duration or what? Will I still be able to login to TMobile's site and call them etc (will they recognise me as a customer?)

@Nexus18 I guess having pets they end up as being part of the family as they're loved by all and like family members you share the highs and lows with them!

Haha TC must be a hungry cat if he's knocking the dish out of your hands, what an impatient chappie! :p He really does sound like quite a character and most definitely lives up to his name! ;)

The commute can be a killer hence why i need a large selection of music and media with me as it makes the journey somewhat easier. If im not reading, listening to music or watching tv eps or films I'm sleeping on the train because of the shifts I work :(

What's the most adorable thing about Sprite Mate?

@Scam Check on the retail package what version of the HTC One S your getting. If it says Z520e and 1.5Ghz dual core processor then buy it ASAP!

See the pic below for what you need to look for on the box

As stoosh said above, check the box for those details :)

I think you can pay via whatever method you want.

I think you also will be able to log into the t-mobile site (I got my S with them but on o2 and am able to use the site and o2 apps etc.) as well as ringing them, I am pretty sure they will recognise you as a customer :)

You can see more details here about the website conditions and the T mobile contract conditions:

Indeed! :) Not just for xmas but for life :p ;)

Haha he certainly is :D Always wants food and always goes back for seconds :D :p Out of all the cats I have seen (friends cats etc.) I have never seen/known one to eat as much as he does. I am not joking when I say this, but see if I put all the cat food that we have out for him, he wouldn't know when to stop eating Lol :D

Yeah tbh, if I was having to do that sort of commute every day, I would definitely want more storage as well (could probably manage it though if I organized what I wanted each night before, would probably only stick like 1-2GB worth of music on and two TV episodes, which would be about 1-2GB each as well).

What's the most adorable thing about Sprite Mate?

Hmmm........ have to say her little meows/squeaks, especially when she is in her bed doing her kneading thing (will get a video of this actually!)

She is also very cute/funny when she plays and then she has a lot of hyper moments where she just goes absolutely mad sprinting up and down the stairs etc. (will have to get a video for this as well)

I swapped mine today, great service for CPWH. It's still the old 'sharp' unibody design but with a slightly revised sim/wifi antenna cap design, hurray! :) (they're still having a few stock problems by the looks of it)

Nice comparison stoosh (forgot the HOS defaults to widescreen).
So, the SGS3 now has much more reliable/better processing? Well, it's what you'd expect from Samsung/Sony tbh :p It looks genuinely sharper at close ups/macro but looses out in low light, not a bad trade off. Lets hope HTC improve that jpg engine!

Awesome cat pics Nexus

I have some S3/S2/HOS comparison shot's to upload :)

Don't hold your breath tho - it's going to take a while :D:p

Got to say though - the 1080p vid-cam on the S3 is unbelievably stunning

Thanks :)

I am hoping that HTC will be able to bring some improvements to the camera area as well, particularly for the 1080P recording and allowing us to record in 1080P when using the slow motion feature  (any idea why they didn't let us do this in the first place, surely we have more than enough power?)

Nice, going to be good to see how all three do :)

Yeah, it is very good, love how smooth it is overall compared to HTC handsets  Shame about the audio though, hope they get it sorted soon!

OK - here are some low light shots between the S2 and HOS - I forgot about the S3 at the time but have some comparisons later on.

S2@ auto ISO (400) - way too dark! Auto setting is poor

S2 Changed the ISO to 800:

HOS - Auto ISO 1238

I noticed the HOS sometimes adds pink tint to a few pictures - not good!

Hmm, hard to say for those photos as the Gs 2 has more noise and is darker (around the leather couch and table) but obviously has the proper/more realistic colours for the carpet :p, where as the S has less noise and looks brighter overall.

I haven't noticed pink tint on any of my photos yet....... will try to do a low lit shot of a creamy/white carpet tomorrow sometime.

Didn't some people have a problem with the GS 2 camera and a pink tint as well? Could it be a factor much like the screen tinting issues, which are variable on every device?

EDIT:

Did you try manually adjusting the ISO for the S as well? If so, was the outcome the same or worse?

The colour does look more "pleasing" sometimes in the HOS photos, but I think it's just too much saturation doing that. The S3 pictures show actually natural colour and the difference in terms of sharpness and general image quality is like night and day! I can't see how anyone can't see the S3 is clearly a better camera there - apart from the low light shot of course.

Yeah, I personally really like that about the 1S camera, I like warm/vibrant colours :)

I would agree with you in the first set of photos that stoosh showed, it really was a massive difference, but for the last ones at the top of the page, I personally don't think the difference is huge, in some shots it is i.e. the leaves and purple flowers but in others it isn't so visible i.e. the first 2 and then the 1S looks better for detail and colours in the turtle photo IMO.

Yes tried manual adjustment on the HOS - but it was actually darker as it only goes upto ISO 800 in manual mode  - auto went ISO 1200+.

Hmmm, just noticed that myself

No idea at all........

I just took a few quick snaps, not as low lit as your area there, but the best that I can do at this time, will try to get better photos tomorrow, have just resized these as well:

Creamy (dirty :o) carpet:

293px.jpg

White towel and white bathtub (maybe a wee bit of pink tint on the bathtub there? Can't really tell personally :o :p)

Ntqhn.jpg

The 1S looks better overall in those shots above, it is just that pink tint that brings it down :(

EDIT:

That is just auto settings.

The ones with the trees and sky is a huge difference. Look at the bushes, you can't see the individual leaves properly on the HOS pictures but the S3 brings them right out.

Your camera looks good there - but as you said a brighter condition may have helped.

I'm killing soo much of my time doing these tests - I normally never do this shizz - I blame you Nexus! :p

S3 definitely showing a lot less saturation there... nowhere near as instantly pleasing on the eye as the HOS but in all honesty it's nothing you can't process afterwards. You can't say the same for sharpness/detail.
